Why CSA 2010 and E-Logs are a good thing.

Scania are the reg's consistent country to country over there? By that I mean are they kinda agreed upon but countries can enact stricter standards similar to our set up between Federal and State.


Oh the horror of having to run legal. And losing the ability to lie at the scratch of an eraser......My oh my whatever will become of the industry?


Some will quit, some will be removed, those left will adapt and it will move on. Anyone with delusions of society shutting down because compliance will improve needs to install the salad bowl anti-radar device I have invented.

If it costs you $.03 a mile your getting a full blown system. According to our shop ours is around $.01 and that is with IFTA tracking, HOS and dispatch emails.

No matter the technology is coming. All people will have a simple choice. To stay or not.

Those of us, on paper, not cheating are not the problem. You can thank those that do cheat, for the stepped up enforcement.

 

Yes you're absolutely right to a point, I theory it should work but in reality it doesn't! I went from a driver to an o/o then to a medium size operator then an o/o again! that was the time fines were small and we didn't care too much for these logs! These restrictions closed down guys like me, here in Europe the day of the o/o is over , restricted by hours a big companies can deliver goods faster and cheaper and that's the reality facing you guys too! I don't know what else to tell you only pm me any time and I'll tell you how things changed for me at least

 

Uhm you do realize that the only change if you go to elogs is going to be the method of input right? I mean the HOS is going to remain the same.

 

Sorry the second part of that was not directed at you. I was just curious how traveling between countries worked over there.And if your regulations are similar or is it like when we go into Canada(OK when others go into Canada. I can not because of my side arm.)Some of our guys get their nuts in a ringer bouncing back and forth between the regulations.

 

168 hours is a full 7 days. 168 hours have to pass before using a reset again. that means 7 full days have to pass before using a reset again. that means no more weekends. OR, one weekend every 7 weeks.

what i see happening now is using the recap again. but given the fact that flatbeds and tankers don't work the weekends. and most of your regional carriers have you home on teh weekend.

it's going to be some complications arising. and headache for a rule that shouldn't even be thought of.

 

Can you picture the DOT trying to figure it out as well?

 

Yes I do! Absoloutly ! But u can cheat them a bit, if only by a few minutes a day, if I can't make a destination within 10 minutes of my time I'm not allowed try! 10 minutes a day can decide if I get home the weekend or not, do you really want this lack of freedom?
