HHG miles 668, rate offered $675, dry van, 42k. Are O/O's really hauling for these rates? That's about $1K less than it should be, IMO.
Just called on a load..

From where? Possibly, but could be a company or private carriers may be hauling it too. Remember, private carriers aren't interested in turning a profit on their trucks. Only on getting their trucks back to the plant, so they can get their own products out to their customers.

It's out of MA, near Boston
-
Oh there's a moron somewhere that will do it for "fuel money"!vangtransport Thanks this.
-
Pffft, would $600 even cover tolls out of that area?
-
Dry and refer freight out of that area is often scarce. The shippers know it and don't have to offer much more. There are plently of drivers that will jump at that load if it gets them down to a better freight lane.
In answer to your question...yes, someone will grab it. -
Gotta love the idiots who haul for "fuel money" or "to get to a better freight area"...
Mommas_money_maker, The Admiral, VisionLogistics and 1 other person Thank this. -
Lets not forget we have large companies that are only concerned with getting a truck back for dedicated freight, where the money is. A completely different business model from an independent or small carrier. When you are load planning 40-60 trucks there is no money in making a couple dozen calls per truck or letting the truck sit for a better rate. Book it and get it rolling back to the contract freight. PERIOD.
SHC, envayne, High Desert Dweller and 1 other person Thank this. -
I understand that,(&this is in general, not specific to anyone here) but the question will always be when will YOUR dedicated freight be another trucks back haul? Hate even using that term, but that is what the above is. It is what creates the race to the bottom when things get tight.

Ugh, it continued today. Called on 15 loads, all priced about $1k short of where they should be. Accepted and hauled a load 200 miles, 5 crates, 8K weight, a little over $2 / mile just to get out of the NYC area. Lots of cheap freight going out of there.
