Owner op is DEFFIENTLY a year plus down the road. When we able able to stop living paycheck to paycheck, and put be able to put money in the bank (even if it is only $50 a month), then I'll be going to school online. I've thought about business management, I've already received my CompTIA A+ Cert. Then, when my fiancée and I talk, long and hard, do the numbers, and figure out if owner op would be in our best interest, THEN I will consider it. Then I will look at the numbers the company gives me as an example. Not while I'm learning the ins and outs of the trucking industry.
Finance issues...already...

young man your comment about just giving up and going back to mcdonalds elicts that kind of comment
watch too many kids having kids and expecting others to pick up the pieces I wont back off my comments and you wont be a truck driver take it to the bank -
Thankfully I got a friend that works for FedEx and has an old cooler for me. It's used, but it's free. Smoking, yes...I do smoke and I hate it. I wish I never would have started. I've tried to quit multiple times, but it seems like something always happens that brings that stress back out. Electronic cigs, I've tried, but it was a cheap brand and it broke within a week. So I will be getting a better one when possible. We get food stamps currently and I plan on using $200 or so for me each month while I'm out. Still have $300 left. In regards to child support, let's just say its $400+ a month. And yes, arrears is the biggest part that's kicking my ### currently. If I don't work, the arrears gets added to, obviously. If I do work, they take almost everything and leave me with barely enough money to do laundry with.
I know life isn't easy, and don't expect it to be. But when it gets to the point to when no matter what you try to do to better off yourself, and life throws a knuckleballer, yes...not curve, life sucks! Lol. My fiancée puts it perfectly, "we aren't at rock bottom yet, we are inches from it". -
When did I ask for a hand out? When did i ask for somebody else to take care of my problems? If your talking about living off the system for now, then take it as you will. We are using it as a crutch, to get back on our feet. I haven't always been in this rut. I have been that guy that sees a homeless person saying they will work for food, gives them $5 and a business card to where I worked and told them that we are hiring. I know I have to work for what I want for my family, thats why I'm out here driving. It's a step, one I feel most people would agree, that is in the right direction instead of sitting on my ### playing video games all day.

people fall on hard times. there's no reason to be knocking the op down just becuase he's a struggling human.
and you've all never felt that struggle. you may have made enough money to stay afloat. but not everyone is that lucky. -
Keep working hard, get some experience and don't let people knock you down, once you get experience with a good work history you can make decent money. The last time I drove OTR I averaged 800 to 1200 a week then I came home and found a local job paying 1000 to 1300 a week, these jobs are hard to find but if you work hard and are persistent you can eventually make a good living driving a truck but it takes hard work and a good attitude!

Raised 6 kids lost one to leukimia and another has MS. I have experienced a full share of life
This guy started the thread by complaining child support caught up with him and he should just throw in the towel and go back to MCD's because his responsibilities caught up to him thats what i saw
So you guys keep patting him on the backajsmith184 Thanks this. -
You seem to be one of the gifted.
I can understand where the OP is coming from.
My first marriage ended badly, after two children.
So I was hit with child support, but I could not afford to pay it and still live myself. It ended up being a cat and mouse game.
Without the proper education for a high paying job, or the time to get one, one can find oneself in a sinkhole that seems to have no way out.
Never forget...
There, but for the grace of God... -
Snowwy luck has nothing to do with it. People are exactly in the position they are by the decisions they have made.
Trans Am I agree, however there is a difference between patting him on the back and advising he keep going because his alternative is more beggingg for scraps off society. Given the choice of advice to give him I'll stick with telling him he needs to gut it out and get off the dole.
