    I am sure your trainees appreciate the constant communication about their performance and areas they need to improve on. In fact, that is how any reputable organization would develop a training program or performance matrix. It is unrealistic to think that a trainee in any organization can improve their performance if they don't have some type of benchmark or standard to measure themselves against.

    I am using the tried and true method of evaluation from the Army: U = untrained / T = trained / P = proficient

    After each task we conduct, I let him know how his performance was, and usually they know, but telling them means alot. Once proficient, evals continue so bad habits don't form, and correctons are made subtly. If you give someone a matrix with handwritten U's T's and P's, they will usually take ownership of the training and start buggng you to teach them the U's, evaluate the T's, and of course they will be waiting for the pat on the back for the P's.
