wonder have brokers thought of this?

I know the feeling.

 

LOL I called on a load today, she went through all the information, got to the rate, paused, said the rate, then immediately said that's a terrible rate, I said, I'm glad you said it, she then asked what I would need, I told her, she said she would call back, she called back and said the best she could do was XXXX...it was $25 more than the rate she said herself was terrible lol

 

It amazes me that someone actually would consider going thru the hassle of sitting at the docks loading and unloading for hrs, drive for a whole day if not more, risking his health and well being running down the roads, and the hassle of invoicing and collecting the bill, all for free if not literally paying THEM to haul it. You know what, many people out there do that shamelessly.. without regard to themselves, their money or the company they worked so hard to start and grow. Fear not my friends, these said companies won't be doing much grow after all!

 

had a guy telling me about a "great company to lease to". They paid $1.35 per mile and you have to deduct all your expenses from that amount.

 

Insanity...

And no matter how much WE SWEAR that WE won't haul cheap freight - some desperate fool (with no knowledge on how to set HIS RATE and STICK TO IT) will haul this crap.

There's no way of "sticking together" and getting everyone on OUR SIDE of the equation to help influence spot rates.

These kind of scenarios will continue to occur - and all WE can do is shake our heads in amazement at the fact that these brokers are under the impression that EVERY TRUCKER IS ACTUALLY THAT STUPID or DESPERATE that they're willing to debase themselves and degrade the entire profession, just to get fuel $$.

This goes back to the other thread where some guys were saying that big companies take those hauls profits to be ###### to get back to their dedicated freight, or guys take it to get home or to better paying freight,

Dont agree with it, dont understand it, but not much you can do to stop guys from doing that except wait for the rate that you want/need to do it,

I was offered less than a buck a mile, three times today, combined, they might have made sense...

 

Rates SUCK! CHEAP BROKERS SUCK AS DOES CHEAP HAULERS! rates r in the toilet!.... talk $3.00 a mile they just think your insane! dont haul for a buck to a buck fitfty they think your insane!

 

Hey, I did my part this week. Took about a $300 hit to the paycheck by turning down some cheap loads (I'm paid on percentage).

 

Why don't brokers just tell the shippers that they simply won't post terrible rates?
