it means you need the serial number off the back of the radio, call sirus/xm and activate that radio, and it will be billed to you, you will also most likely need to plug a sat radio antenna into the port on the back of the radio as well.

Depends on the radio really... one I've seen, just what AT said - need to get the number, you can turn to channel 0 or 180 I think and it'll give you the serial number and will need antenna or might even need a satellite tuner kit to be plugged in.

Other situation, the truck I'm in now, it already had the antenna on top of the roof from factory, just looked up the serial number on whatever channel it was - they'll tell you when you call if you can't find it - and I called and activated it. Five months for $20 :yes2557::biggrin_25519::biggrin_25517: (special promotion rate)

If you already had the kit installed then it should have the am/fm/sat already available and you would just get one or two sat channels but both would say call to activate and give you the 800 number.

If you don't have the sat option, then you probably have a sat ready radio but need the kit - antenna and plug in receiver (back of radio). In this case - its easier/cheaper to get an external sat radio or just get a am/fm/sat/hd/mp3 radio and replace it yourself.
