    Sounds like the beer load that I dropped off on a SUNDAY. Went by the receiver and saw the gate open. Walked inside to ask about overnight parking. They shrugged, asked what I had, and told me to back into the dock and said they'd unload me. :D They had come in to work on the phone system...

    Aye, the days all run together anyway. There is no weekend; only off duty, sleeper, driving, and on duty ;)

    The cool thing about this 'weekend' is that I took two chances that the shipper and consignee would take me early and they both did. Great folks on both ends of the trip.

    And even better, I am not waiting to unload first thing Monday morning burning up my 14. Get to start fresh tomorrow once a new load assignment is received. Weekend FM put my status as available tomorrow 0600.

    That's what I really liked about driving! All the days are the same and you don't have that dreaded Monday. Only downfall is in the summer when all the RV's are out for the weekend clogging up the roads and truckstops! Then there is the Vegas traffic! LA to Vegas Friday eve and then Vegas to LA Sunday eve. Two lanes of desert, clogged up mess!

    I never dreaded going to work or working. It was always an adventure and something new day to day! A lot of drivers hate winter too but I actually feel its more of a challenge and throws a little more excitement in the day! Course I'm from Florida so season change is exciting!

    Today feels like a whirlwind. Picked up a relay load of large diameter 40' long steel pipe at our Ellenwood (Atlanta), GA terminal. My first time there. It was raining quite a lot in the Atlanta area this morning; also quite humid. The equipment shed is in a strange place right by the front gate. Difficult to not block the entrance while exchanging equipment. Took the load down to Tifton, GA, south of Macon. They unloaded me on arrival and I got a new load assigment right away to pick up some particle board in Adel, GA, bound for Teutopolis, IL. The shipper got me right in and I was able to put about 150 of the 750 miles behind me. This shipper had a self service scale where the driver goes into a shack and uses a machine to stamp the weight and time onto a scale ticket. Had to do it upon entry and after loading (but before tarping) and then could get the shipping papers

    Now at a Flying J off I75 south of Atlanta. Will try to drive the remaining 610 miles to the consignee's vicinity tomorrow, to be set up for a 0700 delivery on Wednesday.

    Is this a common thing? Sounds good, but you have to weigh before you get the shipping papers? how did this work out for you? Seems like no problem but...?
