sorry, but below underlined is not possible, unless your "pallet stops" are less than 5 minutes(hard to believe) or you toss 'em out like newspaper guy and than by some miracle, speed up to 100 MPH in less than 5 seconds and stay constantly at that speed. (above mentioned numbers are made up, but don't make me pull calculator out to make my point.) :biggrin_25521:

Did the sticks for about 15 years but not now.
I'm with a specialized carrier doing a dedicated account. We haul popcorn and soft drink syrup.....heavy loads.
We run out of the yard loaded to at least 79,000.

Do it every trip down there and other than drops i keep the left door shut.
My drops are all on pallets and i just roll it off with my electric jack and set it in their door.I have keys to all my drop locations so no waiting.
So YES,most of my stops are less than 5 minutes.
Not very hard to make up 5 minutes when i cruise up 75 at 80+

Ever think how far you'll slide when a steer tire blows at 80+?

This conversation is not worth wasting space, BUT, i doubt that you can get off highway, roll to receiver, park on dock, open their doors with the key they gave you, roll pallet out with elec. jack, lock their their doors, get off dock, slam trailer doors shut, get back on the highway and yet after all that, catch up to the boys that have been rolling all along at 62 - 65 mph. (unless you are a super trucker) :biggrin_25512: Again, don't make me calculate the #s. :biggrin_25525:

Calculate all you like but it DOES happen.
I don't bump docks,i just roll the pallet in the front doors lock it back and roll. Some are LESS than 5 minutes.
This is a 1647 mile run from my yard and back.
I leave Sunday morning and am back on the yard about dark Monday.( 900 bucks in my pocket for that run )

I have blown a steer tire twice in the last 30 years,I know what to expect.
We run a heavy duty Michelin steer tire on these trucks and replace them every 100k.
No recaps on any wheels of our trucks or trailers. Our oldest truck is a 2010 model and we have new trailers.

I guess many of you newer drivers never had a triple digit truck.80 mph is not that fast.

No, I would not. I drive like a little old lady. Am usually 5 miles under the speed limit.
