Same thing is going in in Florida, called the planner to let him know when we would be empty, reply was, "I'll have you pre-planned by the time I go home if I have enough loads."

Just shows that they are reactive not proactive. Last week they knew they had an unbalance in trucks to loads. If the even took the time to look. The attitude that it is just part of trucking and has always been that way is the problem. With todays tech, I a driver can see the loads available in the area on the spot market. Stevens can see even more. But they are not proactive in manegement. And some of the stories the office staff tries to pass off as the reason trucks are not moving are laughable.

Well, time to think about easing back into the rat race. Will check today and see what's coming out of the area tomorrow.
I hate how they tell you to 'get your trailer and log back in before we can check'. Then I'm stuck waiting all day for a 2300 pickup or worse...the next day.
Won't be long and I can start complaining again.
The sign of a seasoned trucker.

Well I got empty and was trying to decide which way to go for a walk when my phone rang, dispatch was I willing to do a shuttle run? Yep better than sitting, so 70 miles to the port of delaware, and all the fun of being escorted every where. Now waiting to be unloaded here in virgina a short 173 miles. Paid practical route miles on this load too. What's next, now that is a big dark secret.

the big dark secret hit my mcp2000 quickly... thank you, as the J at the line was already a cluster, at 6pm.... pickup in harrisburg va, thrusday, 20:00, and delivers to arlington on sunday... no yard for me, just because I am in the area, does not mean I go to the yard...

So i am easily parked at the wilco hess in toms brook... they were stacked 2 deep ontop of each other across the street at the loves... while hess had many wide open spots...

Some days I just do not understand the mentality of truck drivers.

You would be amazed at the number of drivers who think they are only allowed to park at the T/S that they are allowed to fuel at.
I had a grad fleet driver who was unloading same place as me, and rather than going across the street to a small Mom and Pop fuel stop to wait for a load, was going to drive 100 miles to the nearest Pilot because his TRAINER told him he could only park at T/S on his fuel list.

How would you all respond to the following situation? We had a delivery in Jacksonville, FL @ 1100 then had to drive down to Opa-Locka for a delivery the next morning at 0700, approx 350 miles. We got out of Jacksonville @ 1530 and started heading towatd Opa-Locka. At 1930 we get a QC, "are you OK for on-time delivery at 0700?" My response, "We're not really sure. We are 120 miles away and we only have 11.5 hrs to get there. WHAT DO YOU THINK???" BTW, we arrived, after stopping for dinner, 8.5 hrs ahead of schedule, which was noted in our "Arrived at Final" msg.
