Sitting in Gary and also checking my shorts! About exit 20 on I-94 a truck was coming onto the freeway. I changed lanes into the middle lane. I had a car on my right and a few on the left who were getting off or slowing down for the truck. Low and behold, a pickup moves into the middle lane and BRAKES! Holy #$%) !!! I am on the brakes hard (funny no hard brake, but that's another issue) and I get on the horn. I am about two feet from hitting the guy and can't even see his bumper. I see him look in his mirror and eyes get reallly big as he gases it. I was about to hit him at 35 mph, that's what I got the truck down to before he finally took off.
I have 10 palletized coils on. Did one helluva job securing them cause they didn't move!

Back at the terminal in Iron Mountain. I delivered my load first thing this morning and picked up the relay and delivered it. On the way back I picked up a pre loaded trailer in Lanse. I have a 1000 appt in Plymouth, WI to pick up the rest of the load then on to Indy for a Friday morning delivery.

Sitting at the Dallas Yard for the night. I pickup in Ft. Worth in the morning for a delivery tomorrow evening near Kansas City. I was in Mississippi last night and I must say that the mosquitoes are nuts down here. Wow. I'm getting eaten alive. Between last night and tonight, I'm just one big mosquito bite! I grew up with mosquitoes in West Virginia, but I have lived in Colorado for the past decade and we don't have too many of them there. We just have smoke from the fires bothering us once and a while. Oh well, it's always something I guess.

At the flying j in east saint Louis. Load picks up at Marlo Coil in High Ridge MO. Appt time was 1400 today. I got there at 1300. This place has absolutely no room to maneuver if there is another truck there.

Well I managed to back into the building like that said and they told me don't expect to be loaded before 1400. Ok good to know. 1600 rolls around I get out because I need one of the huge AC coils being set down behind my truck. I go ask them if it's for me.. The answer I get it "yes but we still have to do 2 more." I ask how long will it take since I'm at 5 hours. "Uh we don't know."

I told them they have a hour to make a choice to send me to a TS and back in the morning or have it done in a hour. When I said have it done it a hour his eyes got really big. I already figured the stuff wasn't even put together yet. Called my FM told him what's happening. Then the shipper comes over and thanks me for my patience. I just told him I have no choice but to be patience..

After that he told me that he updated this broker company they are using. Then proceeded to tell me about this special coil they are putting in with this load going to a stop that isn't on my load assignment. I stopped him and said my company didn't tell me this is a multi stop. "oh well you will know in the morning at 6am when you come back!"

Haha #######! Shipper was a cool guy. Not very common anymore. Though these units can't be chained and they stand them up.. They said there are four spots (lifting points) that have to have straps over them then I can put more any where else. My thing is though how do I stop these thing from falling over? If I just throw straps over that's not really doing anything. They said no chains. So I'm kinda lost.

I was just there last week, that's where I went Friday and they didn't actually have a load for me.

Tonight I am at home until Monday. Sweet.

I'm sitting somewhere in eastern Kansas. I deliver in Ottawa, KS in the morning and then I have a load from North Kansas City, MO to Chicago for Saturday morning. $100 says I'm going to get to see the armpit of the world sometime this weekend. (That would be the Gary terminal.)

At the J on i75 exit 320 in Georgia. Got a call from my fleet manager earlier asking my why I wasn't at consignee yet. Told him I was planning on going in tomorrow morning...which was 2 days earlier then my load assignment said. He told me delivery was actually 1600 on thursday. They apologized and got me an appointment for 0700 tomorrow morning.
