Hello, I'm leaving for orientation Saturday, do any of you know if I'll be able to be home weekends while on the road with my trainer? I live 20 miles south of Greensboro NC. Also, any advice for orientation would be awesome!

First you have to make it past the two week interview. I watched two guys go home on Thursday afternoon when we were basically done with orientation. bumped trailers out on the yard and BAM! Not saying this will happen to you at all so don't misunderstand. Your question, it all depends on where they find a trainer for you at. Chances are you can get home every weekend during training, I know I did. However if your trainer lives over 150 miles from you-you might be in a hotel.

Advice.......remember it's a two week interview. There is a method to the madness. You will have test to take.....make sure that on breaks and other down times you are working on those test. STAY OFF THE GRASS!

I dont know what to say about any of this. In my mind, my fm is dogging me and giving me the garbage loads. I delivered that heavy load of lumber to an amish saw mill, at his house! I had to turn around in his driveway. They were really nice people, but what a crappy load! I know theres easy loads that dont require 2 hours of driving on small town roads to get there. Think anout it, after driving in to get there, now I have to drive OUT! If my fm dont produce a good load this morning, then Im gonna have to make some kimda change. I dont know what I'll do, but I will do something. A big reason I came to work here was the home time. Im also tired of sitting around in my own sweat and filth because theres no where to shower. I dunno guys. I dont have alot of fight left in me after being in Iraq. I just wanted to work and be lefr alone. I dunno.

Blind I think you should request a new FM. They said don't be afraid to do it. I am having ups and downs with mine still, but hoping I get more ups soon. A month with no home time is not ok. good luck

Oh yeah, and one more question I have tattoos and my recruiter told me to just cover them, but there on my forearms, there not offensive and I really don't want to wear sleeves when it's gonna be this hot. Do you or any other drivers that you know of have tattoos? I just think its gonna look weird me wearing long sleeves in the middle of summer. It even says not to try to cover them in the checklist email I got, what should I do?

Hey guy. Your tattoos should not be a problem. I also have tatts on my forearms, you know us old military guys. As for the pretrip, no. Dont worry about that. Its not even covered. However, the logbooks we use have a vehicle inspection portion on the bottem, we are required to fill it out daily. As for studying on the bus, no dog. Just look out the windows, try to sleep. Everything that you will be tested on you will cover it first. Even the proper way to lift the tarp. Just know that when you think somebodies not watching, your wrong! There are "eyes, everywhere. Good luck.

blind if i were u, i'd have a very serious chat with my dispatcher & letting him know how crappy he's treating me for starters, then tell him hey get me home; if he doesn't next thing to do is go over his head. a dispatcher is alot easier to change than it is with a job that u like.
