Just ran by an ad for a job for new truck transport? Any insights on this? I used to see it all the time when I was out on the road, all the trucks piggybacked and always thought it would be nice driving new tractors all the time...
Anyways this company says it starts out at .46 cpm and extra per truck (not sure how much) and if there is no backhaul they will fly you to another terminal for another load.. pays $150 a day for orientation and close enough that its within reason.
Anybody in this industry wanna shed light on this for me? I searched around but couldn't find much.
Thaks in advance

kdubb, there are a few companies that work like this, they're called driveaways and I just listed about 20 of 'em somewhere in this forum. I'll see if I can find my list and repost it here. This is exactly what I'm about to do, not necessarily piggybacking trucks, but transporting straight trucks, utility trucks, UPS trucks, ambulances, fire trucks and buses, that sorta stuff. Company I'm going to work for is Spirit Miller out of NY state. Pays $0.30 per mile, $0.15 per chase car (getting you to the next truck), and pay all your expenses, except bus and train fares. They try to get you around from truck to truck in a rental car, or so I've heard. Anyway, lemme see if I can find that list for ya.

it is a link to info........

I'm pretty sure you also unload the trucks at the dealer and re-install the axles. Getting from the dealer you unload at to your next assignment can be tricky.....dealer-taxi-car rental place/airport with maybe a motel thrown in.

Would be curious to know if there have been changes of some kind at auto truck transport. They have been advertising a lot lately, in quite a few markets.

Thanks for the link on the info now that I've read all that I've still got some questions..
1. What are machinists and teamsters referring to? Different unions?
2. What are "shrills"? Just a holes or what?
3. I've seen references to needing tools? How can you carry $500 worth of tools on a plane along with your gear?
Is the idea of the company still OK? You can still make money after a year or what? I'm a blue collar guy now working outdoors 70% of the time and driving 30% and I'm tired of it...so if I can make 40k ish a year and not work as hard ill be happy..
