Here is one I haven't seen in a while.

I am weighing trucks this morning, 2 trucks in line. I see a tire and wheel rolling around behind the first truck!

He pulls up and on his last trailer axle the Dayton wheel has lost 3 wedges, the outer wheel, and has torn the valve stem off the inner wheel, flatting the tire.

I pull the truck over for inspection and point to the trailer. Driver just stands there with his mouth hanging open.:biggrin_25521:

I point up the ramp to where the wheel has come to rest. More blank stares from the driver.:biggrin_2552:

i had that ALMOST happen once. stopped for bfast at mcdonalds. did a walk around and everything looked fine. 3 hours later i was making delivery. and all the nuts were loose on one axle. luckily there was a tire shop across the street to tighten them back down. went north back to the yard and had the 2 rims replaced as the holes were longated.

it was my second month with the company. that was the only trailer i pulled and those tires were never replaced during my time pulling that trailer. so, no one had a clue why they all of a sudden came loose. 12 months later and still no loose nuts.

You don't know how true that statement probably is. I worked on trucks for many years before getting under the wheel.
I'd be called out and either the wheel bearing would be burnt out or the wheels run off.
The drivers just about would always say I didn't feel nothing. I would always think, sure you didn't.
I can state for fact now that the driver probably didn't.
I burned out a bearing when I started and never felt nothing till about a half mile before it went.
Never lost any wheels did have one get loose some and never felt anything then either.
So yes it can happen adn you'll never know till they pass you or someone tells you.
