I believe the term you are looking for is suicide. This refers coils loaded eye to the side. It comes from the idea that if the coils broke free they would roll into the cab of the truck.

Homicide might be just as fitting though. If the coil breaks free it is just as likely to kill those around you.

I say homicide but I mean shotgun, eye toward the truck.

The way I remembered it in securement training was homicide is eye to the truck cuz if it rolls off it will kill someone, suicide like you stated cuz it can roll forward and kill me, then eye to the sky....pretty self explanatory lol.

Thanks for pointing that out though since there was some confusion. I used to hate hauling coils but now id take that over all these lumber and plywood loads that are tall, heavy, and have to be tarped lol. I really can't complain though, Ive lost 3 inches off my waist since i started flatbedding!!!!!

How do you end up hauling coils so often living in Florida?

Yup, hauling coils up there. Then when i get a load home its always plywood to a lumber yard 80 miles from my house. I deliver there then deadhead home usually.
