    Items to have:

Lunch box cooker. Cooler (ice chest will work). Some easy canned foods. I also carry granola bars for quick snack. Always keep a gallon of water on board.

Tools: Screwdriver (10 in one by Klein is excellent; available at Home Depot.), Channellocks, cresent wrench, vice grips, 3lbs hammer.

Spare parts: 1 mud flap, 1 spare antenna, light bulbs, fuses. also 1 gallon each anti freeze, oil and washer fluid. Also some heavy wire ties.

Entertainment: XM radio (to me, it's almost a tool...) Laptop for games, movies, email. Maybe an e-reader if you're a book nut.

I kept a bottle of decent salsa to dress up bad food like a weak breakfast burrito and some ranch dressing so I could load up on salads.

side note: I envy you. I've been in a local job for the past 2 years and I'm itching for some road time......:biggrin_25519::biggrin_25519:

i would visit the shop, 2 gallons of oil, 2 gallons antifreeze, door seals, glad hand rubbers, i would not buy a air chuck unless it locked on the valve stem so you can walk away from it , easy too make too, take the regualr air chuck with a gauge, put a flipper on -off valve , this way you can fill the tire, away from it, holding on the valve , turn it off , check the tire, you need the angle head on the tire gauge and only buy a melton , then if you use it a year, for every day, throw it away after a year, because it lost it calibration , by bouncing around in the truck, and for the angle head , that's for checking the inside duel's, also buy galon size zip locks bags , these are great for rain days at the dock, put the bills inside, no more wet bills

Yeah, but the guide usually gives other info like #of parking spaces and services available that the GPS doesn't always have.

my gps has the truck stop and other point's of interest on it, but i'm old school, i'm with you, give me that big atlas any day, also what you might want too get is a camping directory , i still have my gousha road atlas , no longer made, i like it because in it, it shows all the weigh station's with a orange scale on the map and the truck stop's with a red cup, haven't seen anthor like it to this day. trucker's don't have gas so last one won't work, unless you eat lot's bean's or chillie

Get spare bulbs and headlights , glad hand seals, KNOW how to change them , have the tools needed to change them.

Sat beside a guy last week who was waiting for ROAD SERVICE to come out and fix an air leak on a gladhand , he did not know how to change a seal :(
