Driver shortage????

Get ready for the name calling and screaming your going to get from people on this forum for saying what you did. The people here who have driven more than 2 to 20 years all believe that compnay training is a ripoff. Most of them feel this way because when they did their company training the company didn't send them flowers each week and therefore they got ripped off. I've been advocating company sponsored training all along, bottomline if your going to pay for training why not take the chance and see if you can get it for free, if not you leave and pay them for the training just like you would if you went to a CDL Mill. Heck it's not like they can't let you leave, they don't hold your firstborn hostage, ok maybe Swift does but their the only one I think.

 

Sometimes company training is the way to go. People here will yell at you only if you choose to go with one of the bad apple companies. There are alternatives to these companies that are quite decent places to work.

 

Yeah but he needs to consider the ones doing the complaing are the ones that couldn't make money with the company.

back in 1997 two friends of mine wanted to buy stock in a company called Mindspring at $1.25 a share, I didn't buy it at the time because their main target was AOL users and didn't think it would be a good stock buy, well my buddies went ahead and bought 10,000 share together, needless to say 3 years later they sold their stock for $145.00 a share. I don't go around bad mouthing Mindspring is my point. Look at the source of the complainers.

I know several driver driving for Prime who net $50,000-$75,000 each and their taking time off throughout the year to spend with their family, more time then they would get as a company driver somewhere an their all lease operators. But you'll get people on here screaming that the lease is a ripoff, it's not a ripoff for everyone just for people who can't make it work for them. Some can!

 

Also, most companies will reimburse the cost of a third party school anyway, if you go that route.....

 

with your cdl and no experience you are an inexperienced driver, schneider for one takes inexperienced drivers im not sure why they would turn you down saying you need a year of exp. there are also several other companies that do this, look around for there programs.

I've heard that CR England will come to your house and shoot your dog as well.

 

They don't even OFFER company paid training up here in Canada!! So it's $8,800 plus room and board and food to get your CDL then you have to find a job.

If you're older, you can easily find one without the experience but if you're young AND inexperienced, it's going to be tough.

Reimburse you for training? Not around here!!!

It's probably your age that's holding you back so keep on trying and hopefully someone will take a chance on you. Without a squeaky clean record, though, it's not going to be easy. You have three strikes against you: (1) you're young; (2) you have no experience; (3) you have a speeding ticket on your record.
