So I have a misdeamenor dated back Oct 2011. Only thing on my criminal record. I have nothing else to worry about as for traffic tkts DUIs felonies nada. They put me on CONDITIONAL DISCHARGE til Oct 2012. Well I start school Monday. I've been trying to get all my stuff together so I can start applying. Would love to be working as soon as I get out of school. Though I want to work for Schneider I contacted Werner just to see the status of my pre hire app. They asked about the charge of course and I was honest and they wanted to know if I was on probation and I told them I dont check in with anyone which led to are you on unsupervised probation? So yes I guess Im on unsupervised probation but I can leave the country if I wanted to. Well they cant hire me because its still active and was told to try back after Oct.
Now when I was at a job fair I talked to manager/recruiter from Schneider about this. I went up to him and asked if the company frowned upon misdeamenors. He said you dont even have to tell me as long as it doesnt include child endangerment and kidnapping. But we never discussed how recent it was..
Today after calling Werner I called quite a few other companies like TransAm, Maverick, TMC, Boyd Bros, STAR, kane, roehl. Roehl, Trans Am, Werner were the only companies to tell me no. A few I have yet to hear back from others are checking with management. I did call Schneider back and asked a different recruiter that said it wouldnt necessarily rule me out it would be sent to a manager for an overlook. But she wasnt sure about me still be considered active for the conditional discharge.
I did contact the recruiter I initially spoke to at Schneider but havnt heard back. I honestly dont know if hes trying to push my app in..the little he knows the better type thing or what?
So my questions regarding this post to you drivers is I want to know what you think the odds are that Im up against? Is it going to be hard for me to find a job with this active? Id hate to have to settle for a company thats ###### or quite a ###### company to transfer to a better one once Oct passes. My first year is crucial to me and I want to be with the first company I sign on with for at least a year.
Anyways advice/suggestions would help me...Thanks

Doesn't conditional discharge mean it never happened as long as you meet the terms set down by the court? If it never happened they why do you need to disclose.
BTW I applaud you for being honest with the companies, many people wouldn't.afindleya Thanks this. -
I want to say thats exactly what it is but to consider it the same as unsupervised probation? It definetly happened because they wanted to charge 3 counts but gave me a deal to plea guilty to one. Hoping the Adult Probation returns my phone call tomorrow. I know it does show up on my record because I can do a public search and it shows under the category PROBATION shows the type, yr started and end date. Id be happy to not disclose it but I figure if their gonna see it anyway might as well be up front.

A couple of things....
First, you probably got lucky that Werner told you no.....read the threads.
Second, if it were me, I'd go down to the probation office tell them the circumstance, and see if they'd cut me loose a couple of months early. I'll bet you real money they would. In these times, nobody's gonna want to see you get screwed out of a job for the sake of a couple of months probation. Ask 'em. I'll bet they tell you that as soon as you prove you finished school, they'll cut you loose.afindleya and Moosetek13 Thank this. -
Good thinking Dip.

Just an update. So I went and saw Adult Probation today. They said as long as everything I agreed to was taken care of I can file a motion and ask judge to remove. Thats what Im working on now. Then I'll be ok.

Ya, hold off on school until you have gotten a few yes's from some companies. You may have to go with the smaller companies. This could actually benefit you. One really good thing you have going for you is that you live in Illinois! There is no shortage of good smaller companies out your way.
Good luck man....123456 Thanks this. -
Thanks for the thumbs up. Yea Im not paying for school so I gotta take it the class now. Looks like more apps Ill have to do

You don't necessarily have to fill out a bunch of apps. I would just recommend calling some companies and talking to the recruiters about your situation and see what they have to say.
