I can't believe someone with your age and experience is having all this trouble. That really isn't right
I'm beginning to realize the trucking industry in USA and in Canada is vastly different, that's for sure. I didn't realize it was so bad in the USA. I hope it doesn't get like that up here. I'm 42 so I can see where you're coming from - it's REALLY hard to "start over" at that age, even in a similar industry. Mike just did his training this past spring so we went around 12 weeks without pay, remortgaged the house to handle the bills and now we're hoping like heck the industry stays busy for another 20 years!!
Once you're OTR, though, maybe we'll meet up somewhere as we fly through the US/CanadaThat'd be cool

Man, I know how you feel....Although once I made the decision today that I was going to take jam's advice and drop the push for strictly regional, Maverick has called me three times today to get the authorization signatures to contact previous employers, and release for drug testing and background...So they seem anxious to have me...
That'd be cool, everyone on these boards seems to like them. Don't know much about the Glass division though.....But TMC was also interested....So maybe things will get a little easier now that I have accepted the fact that I must make little to nothing for about 6-8 weeks....Anything beats unemployment....heh, heh.....
But, yeah it'd be cool to actually meet someone behind the words we type in here....You'll have to PM sometime with some info and maybe it'll happen....if paths cross ofcourse.....

Join the group. Many of us got into trucking later in life. One good thing about this industry is that there isnt much 'age discrimination!' What I have discovered 'true age discrimination' is, is not that you cant do the job but when you've "been there & done that," knowing where it's going to lead to, an 'older person' wont put up with it!! Also, you will most likely be working for a dispatcher who could be you son or daughter! Once you get yourself established (we older types have a good work ethic!), with good on-time deliveries, no tkts or accidents, then you can pretty much do your own thing....they will put up with your 'crustiness!' LOL Works for me... -
heh, heh....Roger that....
And thanks for the help jam....I really appreciate it....
