If you currently have your valid CDL in your wallet, you're good to go. Whatever address is on it, it doesn't matter, since you have it already. Now, when it comes up for renewal, you'll need an address, right ? In Az, for instance, you need a physical address, but can have a "mail to" address on your license. My Az. CDL has a P.O.box for the address, but, if you check records, it will show a physical address and a "mail to" address. Most states work like this, check with your DMV. You can also use a friends address. I once used a motel address with the motel owners permission (perfectly legal). I've also used the truck companies address, as drivers do receive mail there.

Some years ago, post 9/11, I was floating and had a UPS Mail Box. Just like a regular appartment address:
Something like: 123 Street, AnyTown, NC Suite 102 --- Street address is the UPS store, "suite # is your actual BOX number.
They can take packages, hold your mail for weeks on end.
I even had it on my DL for over a year until I found a more "permanent" address. You can do it. It's easy and it's cheap. Just make sure you pay either in advance or at least

Traveler has your best advice! That's exactly what I was going to post. When my wife and I were over the road we did not have a residence so we were told about the little UPS secret. Get a UPS p.o. box and it shows as regular address not a box. We actually had this address on our license itself. I have been recommending this ever since.
Props to Traveler!PowerOfSolitude Thanks this. -
Texas, S. Dakota and Florida are the three states that allow you to be a resident and never live there.
Easy to transfer your CDL there as well. No income taxes.
I use S. Dakota and use a mail forwarding service there in Sioux City. To transfer your license, you will need to be there in person, spend one night in a motel and produce the receipt to the DMV.
These are the three states that Full Time RVers use.PowerOfSolitude, Rick_C and chompi Thank this. -
You may need to check the new laws.
In florida, you need proof of residency. -

Is there any advantage to being a nominal resident of Texas, South Dakota, or Florida over using a UPS address as a residential address?
