Talked to a prime lease driver today. Nice kid 9 months experience and $1800 in the hole.
They cut off his medical insurance because hes behind. He showed me settlement sheet $200
In advances and his fuel bill was high. Hes stuck due to he went to prime school and owes them
That money and hes bummed out. I asked him why he didnt go company and he said they made
The lease program sound like a truckers dream. Has a Cascadia and payment are high. He said he's
trying hard to get out of neg balance but seems like he cant. He told me he made good money the
first couple of months and its gone downhill since. Told me prime gave him one week free
payments when he signed the lease. Maybe prime and other companies should defer payments
For 30 days so these poor drivers can build up an escrow and some savings. JMO

    Everett Thanks this.

I would have asked the kid how fast he drives. I hazard to guess he drives as fast as the truck will go. The only big expense the kid has any control over is his fuel. He needs to be smart about where he buys it and slow down to 55. Driving a Cascadia he should be getting great fuel mileage so if he's not he needs to examine what he is doing wrong. If he's driving 65 everywhere, slowing to 55 would reduce his fuel bill by about 300 bucks a week.

defer payments For 30 days so these poor drivers can build up an escrow and some savings.:biggrin_25521: Smart thing would be to have some $ saved before they decide to make the commitment to leasing a truck regardless of the name on the door.

Here we go with another load of Bravo Sierra. When they get worried about how deep a hole one is digging for themselves, first its deeper than $1800. That isn't deep enough to trigger anything; that's salvagable. Second, they don't go after penny-ante stuff like your medical insurance. They pull the plug, and terminate the lease for cause.

Leases aren't pushed on anyone, but if some idiot gets caught doing that, they'll get themselves terminated right quick.

That said I scanned my last trip in on June 21- They took full (not prorated)full wk premium, didn't let me know cut off date so wasn't able to fill meds and had to pay full price (Extra $40)-On the 2 paydays since have got statements -one trip was outstanding (fuel desk transflo err at TS- caught err and rescanned) and some detention still trickling in- So this wk got email statement showing negative 114$$ and I was a company driver who gave 2 wks n followed procedure turning in clean, unscarred truck at correct terminal.
Hopefully will get straightened out this wk and will get back pay and credit for overpayment on insurance.

I called twice and left msgs on voicemail never got call or email back yet.
I'm wary of them -The whole New/old loadlock fundraising effort they did along with the $12 rubber stamp, the 100$$+ lock set. The "required" safety vest, The 1$ every time you paid lumper with comcheck,Tire chains,Jumper cables that appear heavy duty but made with cheap grade copper wire. Had to vent about that stuff just didn't seem right.
