Marine,The refferal bonus at ACT is 300 dollar's up front and .04 cent's per mile for 90 day's.It is serious money, but in Bigkid's defence,he started his thread on here and has been up front about his income from when he first started over a year ago. He's also been honest about ACT being a great little fleet to work for. He's never hidden the fact that he get's refferal's.Some he may get from here and some maybe elsewhere, that's his buisness.

Bigkid stated several month's ago that he would stop placing his weekly income on here as not to mislead driver's about what he make's,and that is what he did.I started my own thread in a different section of this forum 7 months ago when I started and have had 3 refferal's in that time. They all contacted me on my thread and we went from there.I post my weekly income without any of the money I was paid for getting a refferal bonus.

I think what peanutbtr is referring to,is that maybe someone is contacting the driver's that come on Bigkid's thread and are contacting them before he get's a chance to reply.I myself don't really think that's fair, but people are people. That's why I went to a different section when I started my post.If a driver get's a refferal off of telling his story and has been honest, then I don't see a problem.I work at the same company as Bigkid does and all of his post on his thread have been true and honest,if they weren't there would be driver's all over the ACT thread's calling them liar's,so far I've never seen that.

The reason that there are so many ACT threads on here is that we all have a little different story and are proud of where we are working and by spreading the word,we're able to attract good quality driver's to a great company. These day's those type of company's are fewer and fewer. So when a new driver want's to ask more question's and some of us pick up a refferal bonus here and there it's not done to intentionally mislead anybody. That's what I think.

Just to add something real quick... the .04/90 days with the 300 up front will average to 1500 for the bonus. Hope this helps.

Still sitting on the fence crunching the numbers using my mileage as a company driver at my current company....I stay out 3-4 weeks so that looks like it would be to my advantage, I love where I'm at now but after doing 18 years of reefer work I am beginning to hate it, Hardly no drop and hooks and getting jacked around on both ends at shippers and recievers i.e. grocery warehouses and meat plants. Also looks like I live in a good freight area for you guys MM128 on I24 in Tennessee.Mian route between the midwest and Atlanta.

Ok hate to post again, Sorry BK, but I came up wuith this info that might be helpful to those weighing a Lease Purchase vs Buying: Here are the numbers, I have a degree in finance so I kinda know what I'm tlaking about, so here goes:

According to the truck paper a 2011 Keworth with a 10 speed transmission 465 Cummins, and no APU Retails for $99,000.00

    Leasing:

42 truck Payments @ $2981.00/month= $125,240.00 (included in that is an extended warranty that retails for 3500.00, FHUT Tax $920.00, and an APU)

    Buying:

42 truck Payments @ $2803.00/month= $117,741.00 (this does not include the $6500.00 cost of installing a tripac, extended warranty, FHUT Tax $920.00)
so if you add these things in the total cost for the same truck would be $125,161.00, so $80.00 difference in price over 4 years.

Also Truck lease payments are deductible over 42 months, depreciation is only deductible over 3 years. So the numbers do work on this lease purchase. I also have a spreadsheet breaking down profit & loss that you can change variable on such as miles, fuel surcharge, fuel price and miles per gallon. If anyone is interested.

FSC this past week was $.40 since the fuel prices dropped. When I started four weeks ago it was at $.44. Another thing you can add to the truck price is the 13 spd trans - not sure how much extra but they are extra compared to the 10 spd. (13spd, 3.55 rear, 455hp cummins, tripac... don't forget the sweet HID headlights lol).

I'm not sure where these 6,500 new tripacs are installed !! I priced tripacs a few months ago and here's what I found Used ( depending on hours ) 6,000-7,200 installed New ( depending on options ) 9,300-10,600 OOida had a grant program going for a while not sure if it still is but a NEW Thermal King APU is going to run closer to 10k installed . If you got the grant from Ooida it may be closer to 7k
