    A question for the Scalemaster:
In a recent thread on this forum,"the shluss effect"(liquid load in a smooth bore tanker) came up.

I was wondering how you handle that when weighing axles on your scale.
I personaly have hauled loads that needed 10 to 20 minutes to settle down.
I cannot image you will have your scale tied up so long by 1 truck.
    So what do you do?

No, no, no......if he were one of those DOT officers that thought he was the do-all, end-all, he'd just raise his arms to the heavens and proclaim "Waves....CALM!", and it would be done.

(j/k Scalemaster, but I'm really bored and couldn't help myself!)

After weighing trucks for 20 years I have gotten pretty good at weighing tankers too. I can tell in a few seconds if we are close on weight. If we need to get a good, accurate weight, it sometimes takes 15 or 20 minutes to get the tank to settle down. No problem shutting down and taking the time.
I also have learned when and when not to have drivers of a sloshing tank pull forward. You have to work with the movement of the load. More than once a driver has dumped the clutch at the wrong time, slammed the load to the rear, and popped a frangible disk or overflow valve. Makes quite a mess with some HM.
