I think that this commercial is absolutely disgusting---but not for the subject content!! Just 'reducing the risk' of infecting someone you supposedly love (other than yourself!) is unacceptable. If I had that 'problem' there would only be 2 options for me: (!) abstain from having sex or (2) find a partner in the same situation as me!

You really need a hobby Jam. If this is what you are worried about, go out and take a long walk.

..I get this commerial on TV everyday and all day.....just shows the 'modern mentality' of not having to be accountable for one's actions. Like giving condoms to 11 YO's so as not to get pregnant...we got an answer for all to perpetuate self-love...i.e., "Love" these days is---I love ME and want You!"
BTW, ppl, I would be wary of anyone who 'defends' this commercial..might NOT want to date them....

Ya....But I don't like any commercial..lol
Especially BOB commercials...sigh

..and a 'goodie 2-shoes' like you wouldnt have to worry about this subject anyway!!
<I keep telling you to stop hitting me!> -
So you are telling me that if you meet the woman of your dreams and she has herpes, you wouldn't sleep with her? I highly doubt that. Your love for her would be more important than her herpes. So she takes the drug to reduce the risk of spreading an incurable disease to you. You would be happy to be with her even if she had herpes, but if it were possible to not catch the disease in the process, then it would be even better.
-
And by the way, herpes is not just a sexually transmitted disease. It can be contracted other ways, including toilet seats.

NO! Hopefully it wouldnt get that far if she cared for me! Just like I wouldnt marry a person if I had a near-terminal illness (dont want somebody I love, including my kids, changing my diaper!). And, another reason why I wouldnt marry some one 10+ yrs younger than me---it will catch up with them (have sis married to hubby 12 yrs older, and ex #1 married to hubby 17 yrs younger---both couples are having to rethink the situations!). Sorry for those who think that "love is all you need," but there is much more too it---think 'others' family & kids too---it can be a tough row to hoe!!
-
I can see your reluctance to fall in love with someone with a terminal illness, but herpes is hardly in that category. My teaching partner has it, and it can be annoying to her about once a year, but that is it. I certainly wouldn't throw a great man back if he had it, but to each his own.

My dad was 15 years older than my mother... so I guess it works for some folks. Dad was happy, Mom was happy, and none of us kids seemed to have any problems with it.
