How do you guys make the decision financially to take days off? Also what is your break even point for miles in a week?

I am not. I am not driving for anyone now, I drove about 25 yrs ago, not sure if I ever want to get back in it again. I was just curious how they make that decision with the lease pmt., and ins. being due every week no matter what.

The picture of your truck is who you drive for? I think that this company has an office in Hueytown Alabama

I own, however when you first start you work a lot. Later if you can afford it you can back off a little. Payments don't take time off so the decision is made for you. By your checking account balance. I take more time off than most and I work local, so the mileage question is out of my league .

If you are a L/O do you have the ability to get the truck serviced (B service) where you want or do you have to have it done at SLC? I have the room and capability at my house that I could do it myself at probably 1/2 the cost.

If you are lease and took the time off and took your truck home, yes, you can do it yourself *IF* you were a certified truck mechanic. Your PM's can be done at the yard, at the dealer, at a T/A.. etc.. but since you DO NOT own the truck it still must show PROPER maint., this is only for the regular 50K services.. Now, if your tranny goes or exhaust falls off, sure, you can fix it yourself, if you trust yourself. Weird huh? You tell them you blew the trans. and it's ok for you to fix it, but you HAVE to get your oil changes from a certified person. WTF on those policies.

A little insight on lease, read here:http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...ngland/182363-leased-to-cr-england-twice.html

You set up a downtime fund, either cents per mile or % of pay, mines, I set to 10c per mile. It's your money, comes out of your check and set aside, available anytime you want it. I took hometime for 1 week straight whenever that fund reached $700.. sometimes it took as little as 3weeks to get it there and other times it took up to 3 months (because i was using the money for other things) but thats how *I* managed hometime and when to go, knowing that i saved the payment for that week.

If thats the case, do not lease with ANY company. Ram, sounds like you had it rough at CRE, but so did I, but different, they tried to nickel and dime me as well, but i was way more than willing to open my mouth and DEMAND stuff, ALOT.. some drivers just take it, and other can't deal with it. Thru all the numerous posts, everybody has their bad points, but each is different, although the company still is the same, some make it and some don't. I didn't quit because I got nickeled and dimed, I quit because I was tired of training people who end up quitting because CRE bends them over and they don't know what the haps is.

read thru and you will see that some ppl, for the situation, can only go to Swift or CRE, etc.... This forum and ALL COMPANIES LISTED on here, 70-80% of the posts are negative on all forums. This guy you say who should not lease at CRE, may go to Swift, lease, get screwed, go to May, lease get screwed and then end up at CRE anyways and end up there for the next 10 years. I am *NOT* a CRE advocate, but I am not going to tell you to go there first either. All i'm saying is the rooks come here for advice and we need to learn to separate advice from personal issues and give ADVICE/INFO and not personal opinions.

Bam, good luck on any venture you take, just number one for all rooks is to do ALL your homework when selecting ANY company.
