I hope this is the right place to post this question....I have 6 months OTR experience, would USX require me to go out with a trainer or just pass a road test and send me on my way? I really want to just get back to work without having to go thru training. Thanks for any input on this. :biggrin_25520:

How long have you gone since your last driving job? They usually like to see a year experience but its going to really depend on the individual company. If you want guaranteed no training time go to Watkins Shepard. Get a hold of AmericanTrucker on here and he can tell you all about them if you are interested.

Hopefully it hasn't been a long time since you last drove, otherwise they will make you take a refresher course and that is costly.

    Good luck man....

Despite what you feel about your capabilities they are still most likely going to make you ride with a trainer for a bit. Hopefully you won't have to take a refresher course. Most of the mega-carriers are all going to be fairly the same. The reason for this isn't necessarily company policy its more of an insurance thing. The insurance companies are the ones dictating these requirements to the companies.

Your best bet to avoid this crap is to go with a smaller mom and pop company. The tend to have more lax insurance so they are able to do things more freely and make their own rules. Here's a site that will help you find some smaller companies:

first mistake is you went to a company that treat's its driver like a number. second most large carriers don't pay a decent wage to truck driver. lastly usx, werner, swift,cr england, ect are starter company!!!!! i guess one must start some where. My advice to you is to do a research on the companys, decide whether you are going to run local, otr, teams, ect!!!!. Sometimes you are limted to what you could run due to the area you live in. For me i run local, about 1500 miles a week, home every night and weekend, the pay is and average of 900 to 1200 a week affter taxes. I wish you the best, hope this will help you some way for the next time.
