I'm actually sitting for the first time since I started, but that is due to my own decision. I got a bit droopy-eyed on my way to Baton Rouge and had shut it down for safety's sake. So now my new delivery appointment is for 2200 tomorrow (consignee's choice), but I'm cool with that. No one is upset with me (not even the consignee), the wife is glad I made the call, and the truck and freight is safe, too. My first late load with this company, and second ever (within my control, of course. Sometimes the load is already late when you get the p/p, or a shipper holds you up forever).
I've only had to do that one other time since I started driving in 2007, and I just look at it like this...I'm no good to anyone dead, nor am I good to anyone sitting in prison for taking someone's family with me. The paycheck stops if I'm gone, and my wife would rather have me to hold than a survivors' benefit check. I hate being late as much as the customer hates us being late, but late is better than never. And it seems that LinkAmerica understands and respects that.

My week definitely sucks to my own doing. Home 3 1/2 days for some personal issues really smacked me this week.

Made it to Oakley in the morning. They took it in the shop, and right when the guy finishes replacing the a/c compressor and is testing it, he drops a wrench. Into the fan. Goes through the radiator. And Oakley isn't exactly a huge town with a lot of truck services, so they had to send the radiator to Hays to get fixed. Fast forward 2 days...
I was getting close to needing a restart anyway. And I got it. Now I got my truck back...no more feeling like a freshly baked potato, tires are good... time to roll. Load is now 2 days late, but the customer is laughing when I roll in. Seems he heard what all happened and he was poking a little fun at me. Good to know that our CSRs stay in contact with the customers and keep them updated. Helps keep the customers from taking our heads off at the gate! -

Dropped load in Jackson, SC after waiting all day in Augusta for planners to work out their plans. Get sent to Conyers yard for load. I hook to trailer and two tires are blown. Sidewalls are blown out. Third tire flat and bald. Local said trailer has been here two days, but he was too busy to get it repaired. Another driver said local slept in day cab all day long. He didn't get one load. Dispatch said they will have a conversation with him when he returns Thursday. Live unload appt for Walmart so this appt will need to be changed... Another driver neglect damaged trailer. Another driver here is getting two tires on his as well. Same side and same driver picked up that load as well. Breakdown said he'll be buying all four of the tires... I doubt it. -
