No man! That's not comedy!
It's called Sarcasm, used to make a point.
But some are too stupid to understand!
Why CSA 2010 and E-Logs are a good thing.

I'm done with this thread!
People that realize that this regulatory nightmare is a bad thing, don't need anymore preaching.
People that are looking for info and opinions, have enough of that already from every which angle and point of view to help them make up their minds.
People that are with their minds already made up in support of this regs and here only to instigate BS, there's no use to argue with them.
So, do what Y'all will! I'm outta here!
Adios! -

Wow it took me 5 days of off and on reading to get through this thread and while there were a lot of good points made through out, whether they were for or against elog/eobr's.
I will say I'm not on elogs nor have i tried them and after talking to drivers that have them i don't want them the handful of guys iv talked to have all hated them it's always the same complaints there's no flexibility once you start driving you better not open that door again to stop for something cause thats 30mins outta your day gone you might need for loading or unloading then you throw on traffic or accidents and there's your driving time eatin up so you not going as far and not making as much money.
i'v heard from more then on driver the only guys that like the elogs are the drivers that only like running 8-9 hours a day or they guys that have to stop at ever truck stop they see love it, the guys i have talked to run the east coast. For you guys that say well the problem is dispatch not planning the loads properly yes that is a little bit of it but on the east coast especially in the summer it turns into one giant traffic jam from about 3pm tell 7pm. I'm not gonna give up my miles just so every tom dick and harry can go on vacation and clutter up the roads, the logical thing would be to run at night but there's even a problem with that i run all nights i get to my delivery at 5am appointment is for 8 takes 3 hours to unload i still can't go anywhere tell 3pm and unless the pickup is with in an hour i just wasted a day which isn't cool with me.
Another problem i see with elog's and one that was mentioned is truck stop parking everybody knows there isn't enough of it, around here where i do most of my driving they're all full by 6pm. Now because of this i'd have to cut my day down from 10:30-11 hours because i know that truck stop at the 11 hour mark isn't gonna have parking so i better stop at 8 hours and lose miles that i wont be able to make up and maybe be late for my delivery if something unforscene had happened. With looser delivery times the loads wont be late but to me and the way i run thats too much wasted time sitting around for the pay.
One idea that was touched on in this thread was training because yes there is alot of new drivers coming out on the road they if would take some of that 2 billion and put it toward coming up with training standards i think that would help a 100 times more toward safety then the elogs ever will, we have a standard that recognized across canada and carriers look for it when highering new drivers it doesn't stop accidents but does help prepare drivers more for being out on the road. and driver trainers up here u can't become a drivers trainer unless you pass a government setup driver trainer course you have min 5 years of driving experience and so many years accident free. I for the life of me can't figure out how an eobr is going to make todays steering wheel holders any safer without the proper training.
FMCSA ATA CRASH PATT all these group are screaming for safety and compliance, well last time i checked you guys were also still in a recession and people are looking for jobs here's another i think great idea again this 2 billion going to be used take it and pu it toward safety and compliance upgrading all the scales to take pictures like oregon and higher more dot officals for inspecting trucks right now the dot is a joke i'v been driving for 5 years and have only had 2 lvl 1's done and both were during the big blitz. I was told that dot officers only have to perform 35 lvl 1 inspections a year to keep there certs to be able to inspect trucks lets do some math say there is 20,000(prob quite a bit less) officers x 35 inspections thats a grand total of 700,000 a year that falls way short of the 3 million trucks i hear out on the road that number should be increased i know i'd rather get inspected ever couple of months then have to put up with a computer telling me what i can do everyday.
We all know neither of those things will happen because it doesn't put money in anybodies pocket, or level the playing field which to me is BS when it comes to business. Trucking is the only industry i'v heard of that passing a law to make companies on a level playing field was a good thing. Being from canada i have first hand experience with it....can anybody say 65mph speed limiter's in ontario and qc.
The sad thing canada is working on there own elog rules as we speak that are supposed to be release july 8th I think it was. The days of trucking being fun and not just a job are disappearing quickly between ruless and reg's, the scum you see at trucks stops and hear on the cb, i wonder when i won't be able to take it anymore and will just want out.Scania man, InTranzit and poppapump1332 Thank this. -
