ok i understand threw a o/o friend you can drive 12 be on duty for 14 is that true but you must have 10 hours consecutive off duty. also that sleeper birth and off duty are the same thing. and that the recap for the week is not a mandatory thing anymore. sounds like your doing a day job.

if you work over 12 hours then you have to fill out a log. 11 hours for driving. 1/2 for pre and post inspections. 1/2 for lunch.

if you work less then 12 hours on your time card then you don't need a log.

you can still work up to 14 hours. and since your home every night. you work on the 60 hour 7 day rule. so, basically you'll be getting a 34 in regardless. and if you work 5 days at 12 hours a day. then you've got your 60 in and your done for the week.

all depends on how the week goes as to how fast you use up your 60. but you don't need a log unless you work over 12 hours a day.

one company i workd for actually has us doing our load and unload times and where we loaded at and i think even dumped. it was all printed on the back of our time cards. they used that as logs instead of an actual log grid. it was a construction company. and really sucked when you hauled more then 10 loads for the day. as they only had 10 lines.

11 hours driving limit. You certainly may not drive 12.

14 hour rule applies to driving only. You may be on duty for as long as you want. You just can't drive more than 11 hours in that 14 hour time period.

What you are calling a recap is mandatory. You'll have to decide which set of rules you fall under.

You cannot drive past 11 hours within the first 14 hours of coming on duty.
You cannot drive after 70 hours in 8 days.
You can work 24 hours 7 days a week but once you clear your 70hrs You cannot drive.
The recap is mandatory. Follow the 11,14,70. Also make sure your flagging all your stops properly on loose leaf this is particularly important and can legally stretch your day a few minutes.

I agree w/the above but will add- make sure you do a pti daily.make sure that you log that pti on some official daily pti form provided by the company or a truck stop.that daily pti speaks volumes when running a day job when the man pulls in behind you or motions for you to pull over.

generally,a day type job can run no farther out than 100 AIR MILES,go figure, without running a log book.this was when i was pulling sticks/logs and things may have changed. dump trucks, stick trucks, log trucks

Yes always show your pti 30 mins if you can log it comfortably Also I thought the 100 mile radius only applied to farming operations?

notice i said WORK 12 hours. nto DRIVE 12 hours.

notice i said 1/2 FOR PRE AND POST INSPECTIONS. and 1/2 hour for lunch

and the local boys that are home every night. work 60 hours in 7 days. NOT 70 in 8 days.

and they don't generally work the hours in such a manner that they need a recap. they are generally off on sundays.

the 100 mile radius don't apply to farming. it applies for CDL drivers.

i think farming has exemptions and what not. it's not really part of any type of cdl work. last i heard. you can even drive a truck without an actual cdl license. becuase they aren't really hauling anything other then for the farm. (excluding livestock haulers)

out here in the construction business. we generally worked 11 hours a day. rteally sucked when saturday was mandatory for 5 hours. and even though it was overtime pay. it was basically just extra money that went to the govt instead of my bank. cuz i never saw much of that 5 hours of OT pay.
