[TD="class: alt1, bgcolor: #D7E4EE"]Hi, I got my CDL in 07, worked for a flatbed company and quit after only doing 3 runs. I was so turned off I gave up truck driving. Now, I'm thinking about getting back into trucking, being more cautious about who I work for. I'm planning a refresher coarse.
Do you think I need to put the flatbed company I worked for 5 years ago on future applications? I'd rather not waste my time, but if I have to I will. Thanks, and any other advice would help. I Live in Wisconsin FYI

You'll have to go back thru training. There may be a rare company that will take you without training, but your feet didn't even get damp the first time...

They ask for your EMPLOYMENT HISTORY so why start off lying about it.

He's right. I think they ask for 10 years history.

Okay, I guess I'll put it down. Why change my mind? Because I have an opportunity after 6 months over the road with a nice local job.

I'm no longer doing OTR but if I didnt have experience and needed 6 months to get a local gig, you bet your ### I would do it. Unless you don't have a good home life or something, you won't wanna go back to OTR again once you get a local job. Home every night, steady paycheck, get to actually have a life, etc. So helll yeah I would do it.

No, they said after I get 6 months OTR they will give the local job. So I'm planning a refresher course and looking to work for one of the big companies for 6 months. I guess the reason I posted the thread is because I'm worried the flatbed company I briefly worked for will say something negative about me. But it's been awhile so who knows....

List them as an employer. 10 years is required.

Before you apply, get your DAC report to see if they listed anything 5 years ago on it. It's free once a year, so go online and ask for it to be delivered to your home. After you KNOW, then you'll know up to date if there's any black marks against you, then apply. Don't apply until you can fill out the applications knowing what's on here. Some companies will figure you were lying, some won't or won't care... but for different reasons.

Here's the link to get your DAC from HireRight: https://www.hireright.com/Disputes/Report.aspx

    Good Luck
