I'm so lazy about weight distribution that I found a company that has spread axle vans. :)

This company has air slides, they had to show me how they work being as I'm one of them flatbeders and all, but when your hauling empty cans around I don't think wieght distribution is going to be much of a problem.:biggrin_25512:

Sorry haven't been around much, been pretty busy. Just bought my latest project, a car for my son. It is a 92 BMW 318i. Nice little car, needs a bit of TLC, but it came out of the south so the body is great. I am loving the new driving gig. It is great running only 2000 miles a week and still making a grand doing it!!! This week was kind of crazy with the holiday in the middle of the week, but still great. I hope everyone had a safe and happy 4th.

I've got my notice in now, so I don't know how it works if they work you the full two weeks, or dump you & your gear out on the side of the road somewhere. :)

Anyway after much prayer & discussion with my beautiful wife, it's been decided this industry has turned more into a mill than a place you can be proud to call "your job". I'm painting with a broad brush, but since this terrible economy and with limited options to earn a paycheck, and the three companies I've pulled for during this economy....same crap, just different name on the truck.

MVT - Positives were a lot of miles, Great equipment, lite loads -- Negatives were lack of respect for drivers, pressured to keep multiple log books, NEVER home, always behind the clock, rush, rush, rush, such good fuel economy & large tanks fueling avg every 3 or 4 days meaning you came out of pocket to much for showers, sensors on the truck that beeped & would slow truck when cars/trucks would cut in front of you going down the highway.

Knight - Positives were good equipment, respect, home when you wanted, decent terminals -- Negatives were crazy pay scale coupled with low miles = one small paycheck, a lot of waiting.

Roehl - Positives were good equipment, home when you wanted -- Negatives were micro managed in everything, terminal are dumps, no respect, avg. paychecks, a lot of waiting, poor planning.

It's tough to be away from your family all the time. It tough to maintain a healthy diet. Maybe I'm not changing with the times. The way I learned it was to give me a dispatch & I'd have it there on time close to the paid miles without having to bother dispatch for anything. Once the trip was in my hands any problems were solved on my end. Apparently your required to call and cuddle now days.

Anyway I'm out of trucking, well that's the plan. I'm getting back into Real Estate, changing from residential to commercial, taking any paying job(s) locally until the economy breaks for the better. It will as Obama will be voted out, confidence will come back to the markets, I'll have a portfolio of listings ready for the taking...

I respect you drivers. I wish the owners of these larger companies did as well. I never understood they'll put a "professional" in charge of $160K+ of equipment, potentially a million plus in cargo and the ability to kill or maim the motoring public with a mistake....and they want to treat & pay you like bum expecting you to sacrifice your health, family, & overall quality of life to be micro managed by a punk kid who makes more, goes home daily and the weekends, and doesn't really give a flip about you or your daily struggles that go with this job from the time you wake until you finally get to "rest."

May God bless & have favor on you all.

Oh I also want to add that since I've been home this last week, I've jumped right back into the hobby I've been at for more than half my life and had to drop when I went back on the road. Fishkeeping. :) I set up a 55 gallon and a 29 gallon tank. Here's my favorite tank that I had to take down when I went back otr.

What fish? Salt water or fresh. I had a tiger Oscar I bought size or a goldfish and it grew bigger then my hand in a year. Used to eat big lizards whole in one bite. Mean sob but that's why I loved him. People were scared to put their finger in the tank BC he would snap at it. Had nice colors too. Dark green with bright orange strips like a tiger. Good luck with the new job
