Now, to be clear, I'm not muscle buff. That's actually why I'm asking these questions! I understand that it will be difficult to get a good workout plan and stick to it over the road, especially meal plans. However, I was wondering if anyone had any work out routines they do while they are out on the road? As well as meal plans, which is a concern to me because I eat anything and everything, so does anyone have any pointers on eating a little bit healthier on the road?
I've been trying to dry fruits (like tomatoes and peaches) with my oven, it takes forever but it tastes all right. Are there any good recipes anyone has for cooking something they can take with them on the truck?

I agree with the protein shakes. I started a plan where you use shakes and bars and other foods and in about 8 weeks I lost 34 lbs. the shakes are high in protein same with all the other foods. I got about 24 more to go.

Meal replacements like Metrx and Myoplex maybe some soup? As far as workout get some adjustable dumbbells. You can get a good whole body workout with just dumbbells.

Sardines. Very good for you. Tuna, too. Buy a Breville juicer and pack a ton of fruits and vegetables. All the nutrients u need have been mentioned.

I follow the Atkins Nutritional Approach while on the road, and have been for over 18 months. When i eat at truck stops, I get omelets, steaks, pork chops, cooked veggies like green beans and broccoli.Denny's has sauteed spinach which I love. I keep meat, cheese, green veggies, salad, and low carb yogurt in the fridge. I cook boneless chicken in the crock pot, and plan to get an electric skillet to cook spinach and eggs, which is my favorite breakfast.
The only exercise I do is running. All I really need is my running shoes, and usually a safety vest, because most of my runs are at night. I just starting my running plan. I am entered for my first marathon this fall, and will do all my training on the road. Prior to starting all this, I was a 300 pound chain smoking driver. The last time I ran was 1987 in the Marine Corps. Now, at 48 years old, I'm finally getting it together. You can do it out here. You just need to locate your "Want To."

Hey az I'm in the same shoes you are. I'm 38 a former marine and tired of being out of shape. I just bought a new pair of go fasters that need to be broke in. The only thing I'm having trouble figuring out is showering. I don't have time to stop every day I'm thinking of getting those adult or maybe run when I'm able to get a shower. Good luck in that marathon.

Thought I'd put my five cents in! I have sent hubby off with one of those lunch box stoves. (It plugs into the cigarette lighter and runs from $29-40.) I went to the store and bought extra aluminum loaf pans. Made the following for him to take: Burritos on top of refried beans and Spanish Rice, spaghetti with sauce and garlic bread, chicken fajitas, cut up red potatoes and carrots topped with a raw hamburger patty sprinkled with Montreal Seasoning, seasoned chicken and rice with veggies mixed in, and a seasoned cooked chicken breast wrapped in foil to go with a small loaf pan that has mashed potatoes and another one with corn. I then froze all of these and he had the fajitas tonight and he said it took about 1-2 hours. In that pan, the bottom was filled with sliced fresh green and red peppers and onions topped with a seasoned fully cooked chicken breast slices. I wrapped the tortillas in foil and he laid them on top of the pepper blend while they cooked. He takes individually wrapped cheese sticks and used them on top. I also sent a little container of sour cream. He plugged the stove in with the fajitas and went and got a shower, filed some paperwork, talked with me and other family members, did a couple of crossword puzzles, you know-killed some time. He said the fajitas were fantastic and he was really impressed! He also took some individually wrapped items-cracker and cheese combo, fruit cups, pudding cups, granola bars, shelf stable milk, a bag of cereal, snack mix, a case of water and drink mixes, individual peanut butters and a loaf of bread, a small container of butter, some ham.
Hope this helps. I have done extensive research on here and other sites about this particular subject. (We are just starting out and buying food on the road was completely out of the question for right now.) I would really like to experiment more with this lunchbox stove type cooker. This is his first time out, so we'll see how it goes! I am already planning next weeks meals. Some homemade hamburger helper types, barbecue chicken (to put on a bun) with corn and cheesy potatoes, stew and some homemade biscuits,smoked sausage on top of fried potatoes or cheesy macaroni, maybe some steak tips in brown gravy over noodles-You get the idea-I believe it can be done with some pre-planning and freezing ahead, especially if you are single. You don't want to spend all of your home time cooking, but some cooking done one time many a meal will yield! Good Luck! -
Hey,I just read Winkjr-also found on this site, someone recommended these wipes-they are called Big Ones by Wet Wipes, got some at WallyMart. They are large wipes that you can use when you need freshening up. You also can get some Dr Bronners soap-it's natural and highly concentrated so you only need a very small squirt in a small basin of water. Take a washcloth and get wet with solution, wring it out and rub on skin. Smells wonderful-comes in Peppermint, Eucalyptus and Almond. Very gentle and mild. The soap can also be used for a million other cleaning applications-clothes, your truck, etc. My friend's husband takes his bike with him. I have seen fold up bikes, too. Not sure what kind of quality they are, but just trying to help...
