BobC and Tip, I agree with you both. A person must read the bad reports for themselves and decided. True, what one person finds terrible another will find perfect! That's why I always tell people to read for themselves and then decide. Also, of course the large co.'s will have a larger number of bad reports, they employ more people. But when the reports all carry a similar theme.... Information is the key, at least it is for me. Then I can't say "no-one ever told me.."

when i hear 50 drivers tell me a company sucks i'm gonna listen to them a little more than the 3 drivers who said their great.

There is a saying: If it looks like a turd, it could be a candy bar. If it looks like a turd and smells like a turd, it's definitley not a candy bar ... .....walk away and don't eat it.
Some of these companies are turds, and it's best to just walk away and not partake of it. I realize there are some drivers who have a grudge or will always find something wrong with any company. We have to make that determination and take the information as we get it. Some info has to be weeded out. BUT, I talk to alot of drivers at truck stops, cafe's and other places when I travel or stop by the truck stops near my home. Funny thing is; they will tell you the same things about their companies Face to face, that you read in this forum. So we must be getting alot of correct information.
I will be going to driving school in April or May of '08. I'm saving my bucks, clearing out some debts, buying some gear for the road and getting ready for that first hard year. I'm doing my homework now and believe it will pay off in the long run. One of the places I get my information from is this forum, and I appreciate you all. Thanks, NEWB

I was perusing this topic & something kinda' funny struck me.
As much as this site is dedicated to preventing recruiters from sucking in the smarter of the recruits, it also performs a bit of a valuable service for the recruiters of the same companies that are complained about.
By offering all the negative info you can, the recruiter actually gets the benefit of employing exactly the kind of people they really want.
The kind that are either too dumb or too smart for their own good to pay attention to what the majority has posted.
In effect, you are making the recruiters job easier by weeding out the potentially smart ones they know will certainly complain in a short time about being screwed.
I saw a certain subtle & ironic humor in it.
But then, I have no sense of humor.
Well, that's not entirely true...I'm told I have one but it's severely twisted. -
I love this site and i have gained a lot of knowledge from it. Driving for a Canadian Co. i don't really need to know the good and bad Co's as i can't drive for them anyway, well maybe i need to know so i don't park beside them in the ts's
I think that this is an invaluable site for lots of reasons, i have learn't so much in the short time i have been driving (8 months) i would break my learning curve down as such: 15% from this site, 25% from my fellow drivers and 60% from actual experience
I don't kid myself that i am anywhere near a great driver, i am good for my experience, bad compared to someone with 5+ yrs of experience. I do know though that i will be learning for the rest of my life. There are good and bad veteran drivers and good and bad rookies. the same applies to companies and even departments within companies.
In short, we can all learn, all the time.
I love the bumper sticker idea, i would chat at truck stops more if i saw one (although i am friendly and talk to anyone who talks to me) and look out for them on the road (just give me a met black option to match my truck)
A big thanks to everyone involved in keeping this site open and to everyone who contributes (even the ones i don't agree with)

Many companies come here and troll our threads to try and stop their drivers from using free speech.
as long as we are here we invite everyone to speak freely here. this is what this forum is all about. and if a company does not like it.....well that's tough ****!! -
I had applied to CRST and they were all ready to bring me in for schooling (thank God they didn't return the call). When they didn't return the call, I did a search for "trucking forums" and found this site. Sure enough, right on the main page I saw CRST in the Bad Companies forum. I didn't even have to go into the forum to see it because it had the latest post! My dad had been telling me to go with Roehl, and when I went in the good company forum... there it was! It took me hours to read all the posts in each thread, but it was well worth it. About an hour or so ago, I got off the phone with my recruiter and am expected to start school Dec 3. I haven't been this excited about anything in years! Dec 1, TSO concert. Dec 2, my sister's birthday. Dec 3, the start of a new career with a great company.
