here in FL all the car you buy from a buy here pay here or banks have them and they dont tell you smack. its like an easier way to repo, before you had to actually hunt a car down now its to easy.

think of it as insurance fir the person who still has title.they cost like $250 each device down here.

We had something like that on a car we bought and they let you know it was there. I don't really know how it really works, but they did cut into the wiring for the cruise control to install it and messed that up. It has a square black box on the dash that is about the size of phone jacks in the wall. We paid off the car and since the place had moved from our area, we have never had it removed, afraid to touch it really incase it messes something up electrically.

I guess you need to find out if your financing agency knows anything about it.

They've been doing that for years.

If your truck is financed, it can be located and repo'd, easier than ever.

I want to try to disconnect it but I don't know if it's tied into my ignition switch or something. I just don't think it's right for someone to know every step you make with out your permission. I understand where they are coming from. It's hard to find a truck if the trucker is switching jobs all the time. But let me know whats going on before hand and I think I'll be alright with it.

supertrucker1, take a honest look at this from the point of the guy financing the truck.

    1. everyone that buys a vehicle doesnt intend for it to get repoed, they all say they will make the payments

    2. in spite of no. 1 the repo companys are so busy they cant see straight

    3. if they told everyone of the tracking device, how many do you think would be removed.

    4. it costs much less to locate a vehicle with a tracker, thus those costs arent passed on to the customer of this place.

    5. there isnt someone sitting there tracking you on a screeen every minute of the day, the device is activated only when the payments arent made and they are looking for the vehicle. it is nothing like a quallcomm unit at all.

and the big one, 6. if you are making payments and arent doing anything illegal what the problem?

you dont have to worry about them calling your wife and telling them you are parked at the cafe risque in micanopy, fl at exit 374

how exactly by only activating a device when you dont make your payments, are they violating your privacy?? if you disconnect they may call and ask why.
