What is the importance of holding a door open for a stranger when entering or leaving a building. Do you get insulted when someone holds a door for you? Do you think the person holding the door honestly believes you are not perfectly capable of opening the door yourself? It is a polite courtesy and nothing more. If you understand that, then you should understand the lights thing. And if you don't understand it, then nothing anyone says is likely to help.

In either case, flash or don't. It doesn't really matter. Because for every driver who appreciates it, there is another who, like yourself, finds it necessary to get annoyed by it for one reason or another.

I did bother to ask for further clarification on the topic, and changed my "ways", did I not? Previous to this post, I did do it every-so-often.

Reading this thread... talk about a microcosm of the current state of the industry.

I thought the same thing. Kind of takes in the entire spectrum of thinking currently being tossed around. New vs. old school, technology advances , school graduates, old geezers, crowded highways, law-suits, rules and regulations, everything you can think about.

I don't know if you did or didn't. I didn't really read the tread beyond your first post. I skimmed a bit and the thread seemed to be getting off track to so I stopped reading and responded to your first post. Its the internet, people do that sometimes. My apologies if my response was late or redundant.

Daylight, I flash high beams. Dark I reach up and turn them off. Usually I also grab the mike and tell them they missed me while I flash. If they have a four or an 18 on their ### I will flash them a little sooner. As for when I am passing another truck, if I have a 4 wheeler on my butt I will hit my blinker when I am about halfway past the other truck to (hopefully) keep them from cutting to my right before I am clear to go over. I wont come back over untill Im clear, which for me I like to give 100 feet at the least, but it seems to help keep the 4s from cutting over. Also I will give shout on the cb if I see a four cutting to the right when a truck is passing me, and also have been warned many times myself from other drivers on the cb when 4s do it to me. Of course, it doesnt do any good to warn someone when their radio is off.
    stay safe,

from what i've answered, along with reading here, all i can say is u can try to educate these new drivers coming out all u can but in the end they want to do it their way, so i come to the conclusion that u can't fix something if it doesn't want to get fixed along with a few choice words for these new drivers. but they aren't what they think they are; put them in a bind under pressure & watch them fall

I find newer drivers less stubborn and acceptable to change than the older driver is.... Just sayin.

The OP says that she changed her ways based on what she learned in this thread. I think she deserves credit for that instead of lumping her in with all of the other new drivers.
