    Hello Mavericks!

I've been researching companies for the past month or so and I have Maverick on my top 10 list but I hadn't really researched ya till today.

    I'm very impressed!!

I'm in NC and getting ready to start CDL school in August. At the moment I have Epes at the top of the list. Their threads read much like Maverick's threads. I haven't really considered flatbed up to this point but I am now.

I'm 45 and although I'm a fairly strong dude I have been pretty hard on my body over the years. Knee injury from HS football, shoulder that gives me trouble from power lifting as well as the usual pains that come with getting older. I gained a lot of weight over the years and finally decided to do something about it. I recently had gastric bypass surgery and now I'm on my way back down the scales (66lbs in 3 months so far). Now, I'm working out and back to lifting weights...not as much and a lot slower than I use to though. One of my biggest concerns about becoming a professional truck driver is sitting all the time and becoming sedentary again.

I know I can do the work of a flatbed trucker so as of now I have Epes and Maverick as 1a and 1b.

Thanks for all your input and advice on the thread!!!

Well after sitting for 5 hours I got a message that there was not any loads for the day and probably not any for Friday as well....so to head on home.
I had just enough time to make it home if everything went perfect....well it didn't. Route 8 was closed and the sign for the detour was past where the street was. So I had to turn around at a nursing home that had a big empty parking lot. I did not trust the detour route, so I went down IN 1.
With about 30 minutes to go, I got my log violation for my 14. Did not really care for I was going home.
So now I get to start another week on Monday MT which means that I will have another short week.
It is a good thing that I received my fuel bonus, or else it would hurt more.
So my week back after vacation was horrible. Hopefully next week will get back on track.
Seems that since I got my new fleet manager, only bad things have happened. I am not blaming him, but it has me thinking...lol:smt068

Jim, do you load at Coils Plus in Springfield very often? I run coils up to them alot from AK Middletown, sometimes I have even done that run twice in a day.

Well, glad to be back home. Got back around 6:45 Friday (this evening). I had a really good week. Did 7 loads this week and just a few miles south of 2000.
The most eventful thing that happened to me this week was yesterday morning down at the Exit #2 Flying J at I-65 and Hwy 109 in South KY-
while fueling up (was on the driver side) all of a sudden I realized I was being showered by very hot water! The driver in the next fuel isle had been messing around with his radiator and water hose and it broke open while he was idling the truck. I ducked up close by the fuel pump to avoid any more hot spray and while doing so I knocked my fuel hose out of my tank and diesel was flying everywhere! Ugh! I got it shut off in like less than one second though, so not big waste, but I was starting to fear that this was going to be a bad day! Ha! Turned out ok though.
As for the driver next to me, he did come over and apologize. Flatbedder, so I shrugged it off and said "Hey, no problem Man..."

I received my first violation today. Went 12 minutes over on my 14. After hours said that safety would call if they had any questions...I just couldn't stop so close to home.
