I don't quite get that line of thinking and I see some other drivers do it too. Why is everyone in such a hurry to get out of a 4 wheelers way? Had a perfect example of this yesterday, middle of nowhere on the Wyoming/Nebraska border, truck passing me in the left lane with a car behind him, he comes back over just feet in front of my bumper, what he failed to do in his haste to get out of the cars way was notice the truck coming off the off ramp in front of him. At this point the 4 wheeler is alongside him so his only recourse is to slam on the brakes forcing me to do an evasive move into the left lane. Long story short, complete your pass safely, if the car is going to be foolish then so be it

Simply because I don't want that 4 wheeler cutting my front bumper off at the same time the big truck decides to come back over, causing the 4 wheeler to slam on his brakes in front of me and my hood ending up in his front seat

Depending on what else is going with traffic I will often back off when there's a truck going by with a 4 wheeler up his butt.

I turn the lights off and on for drivers a lot. I appreciate it when drivers do it for me. I usually don't even get over right away when they do it as I like to give people room but I still thank them either way. Sometimes at night when I get blown by 15 mph faster than I'm going I do it just to see if they thank me as I really have nothing better to do. Surprisingly a lot of guys will still flash the markers back at me.

Do it nearly every time Im passed because it says more about my comfort than your depth perception... If an o/o passes me holding a steady course and glances over to give a finger-lift wave, ill probably flash him earlier than most. If a mega-carrier lease op passes me weaving all over, yacking into his headset, and using his forearms to steer while holding a bag of doritos in one hand and licking the fingers of the other -- i wont flash him until hes at least a full truck length in front of me.

And by flash i mean hi beams during day, headlights off at night.

I'm not bothered by others using the hibeams on me at night, but i do get a bit irritated by the super quick flashes -- when I see it in my peripherials, I cant be certain they didnt just hit a bump...

I don't care if you flash or not. High beams or low is up to you, that's what the shiny thing is for on the right side of truck. I will come over when I have given the spacing for both of us to be safe. A truck to a truck and a half. Plus I could care less what the 4 wheelers are doing. I don't let them rush me same with the super dudes. You drive your truck and let them drive theirs.

I don't care what excuse you use. If you flip your brights in my mirrors, you can expect my (very bright) work lights right back at you to show you how much I "appreciate" it. If everyone would do that, maybe a few nitwits would finally figure out - IT'S NOT NICE.

Being the slower truck on the road, there's 1 situation that I'll flash the guy in for sure....

When there is a faster 18 wheeler tailgating a slower 18 wheeler...

1 situation was, on a 3 lane highway, we were going uphill, a very fast truck pass me, after that I pull out to pass a very heavy truck on 4 way flashers... Then the downhill... The very fast truck stayed in the middle lane thinking he was the fastest truck on the road... The heavy truck then pull out from behind me and shooting down the hill like a rocket in the middle lane... I flashed my lights without hesistation... Followed by the very fast truck who stayed in the middle lane flashing his marker lights back at me.... (translation: I will stay in the middle lane, but thanks for flashing me in though....) Then as you all know things get ugly afterwards, exchanges on the CB etc....

Giving a driver a blink of the lights isn't any kind of rule. It is a courtesy thing.

Personally I know how long I am and I can see. Blink don't blink that's fine. Blink your bright lights in my mirror at night and I'll grab the mike and tell you what kind of POS you are. Put your blinker on half way through the pass and again I'll tell you what I think about you.

I blink most times. If the passing truck doesn't blink back.... No big deal. If it looks like the driver might need to get over quicker I back out a bit and give them more room and a quicker line.
