orginal idea was your confirming that there is sufficent room (safety wise) for them to come back over. Meaning that when they do come into the lane you will have a safe following distance between you, it is also a courtesy as is the thank you flash of you after completing the pass.
Nowadays driver like to speed up as you pass instead of making sure you get by safely.
My goals are simple, courtesy ot other drivers, hopely making each others jobs a little more enjoyable. And getting all home safe and well. If I can improve your day in the process then I have suceed in my goals for the day.

Since starting the thread, I have been diligently flashing others. I don't get upset when I don't get the "thank you" flash back. Oddly enough, my anger at other's driving and such, has been much lower since driving an 18 wheeler. I don't know why, but the calm is much more welcome than the anger.d o g Thanks this. -

I would rather you not flash your lights at all if you are going to flash your high beams.
lonelyswmtrucker, Jake The Bullhauler and gator21 Thank this. -
As was stated. Every situation is different. You can feel whether or not it is pointless to flash your lights or not. Like was said if a truck blows by you then there really is no point in checking your lights but if a truck is creeping by then it is a nice jesture so that they can get back over quickly.
I will say this, if I am passing and you flash me over I will thank you but if you would rather highbeam me instead of a quick off and on, I would rather you did nothing. -
