Ha! I had a Slurpee earlier, and am on my 3rd hour at a restaurant across the street. I'm tired as heck (been up for a long time), and want to crash in my berth well before it starts to cool here.

I doubt they'd ever even consider it, but it would seem to me that Schneider should pay for a motel room if I'm stuck in a non-idling state (I'm on my reset) and they don't provide APUs, etc. I'm not a wuss and can deal with a good amount of heat. I have a fan and window screens, and the ability to sleep in a tank top and underwear and just deal with it, but this is excessive. With as much concern there is with driver fatigue, I'm surprised there aren't more considerations about this with the states and/or companies.

She ain't in Cali so that's a moot point.

I've never had anyone come out and tell me to shut my truck off. Of course I don't idle just to idle either.

There is always the fall back position I take when confronted by stupid rules at shippers or receivers and the SOS sent out to inform me that I've broken one of their rules. I give them what they expect to hear. "Well I'm just a DAT ( dumb ### trucker) and I ain't had much learnin' and don't know better".

Are you at a DC or a Store parking lot doing a 34? In either case why aren't you at a truck-stop doing a 34 so you can shower and take care of things?

Hubby got a ticket on Hunt's Point in NYC for idling. The temp was 90+ at night, no APU, had to idle to sleep. Officer wrote on the ticket that he sat in his car and timed for over 10 min. He also stated that if there was a cat or dog on the truck he couldn't ticket him.

The heating and cooling refers to reefers and heated vans .

You sure about that? It's not clear but when you see the words 'installed on the vehicle' I would think it means installed on the vehicle itself.

edit to add- it refers to 'installed on the motor vehicle' so I think it's safe to assume it's not referring to a motor installed on a trailer.

Rather than risk a health of safety issue I would idle, I cannot sleep when the heat is up.
