I had a GOOD experience with this the other day at the family dollar depot in duncan, ok. The gate guard asked for photo ID when I was in the guardhouse with him, then said 'if it's in the truck don't worry about it, they don't really ask'.

Don't be a dummy with it and your chances of getting caught are very very low. I only used it for shippers and receivers, never carried it in my wallet.

Cheating on your logbook can also be a felony, but most drivers do it daily.

Probably right about the post 9-11 deal.

The way I sort of get around the drivers liscense deal is I have put black electrical tape over my personal information. That way, all they get is my name, and DL #.

Have yet to have anyone ask me to remove the tape nor has any shipper removed the tape.

First time I catch them removing the tape, I'll have that ####'s supervisor in there and the local police for attempted ID theft.

consider getting your TWIC card from the government. I needed this for access to refineries. This is a federal government issued biometric picture id no personal info appears on this card other than your name and picture everything is stored biometrically therefore no low paid security guard can steal your personal info. just thought you all might want to know

I hear ya rosebud, there is way to much stereotyping in this industry already we don't need any help from steering wheel holders. The biggest things is I was told by a Georgia Scale Master that it was "ILLEGAL" to photocopy a license for ANY reason. Yet it is done everyday. To many rules being made by people who don't have a clue about the left lane, or slow lane life for that matter.

In the food safety criteria(called farm to fork)there is a requirement from DHS to be able to track everyone that comes in contact it. Company name, unit#,trailer# all/any meet the requirement. I think it's in the 1500's? in the CFR. Doesn't state a DL.

I only deal with a few customers that ever ask for my ID. Toro in El Paso asks for my DL # when I check in. I finally managed to memorize it.
