    Really??!!!

    WOW!

I had no idea. Dang. Someone needs to tell payroll about this because they've been paddin' my settlements for the last two years by BUNCHES!

We apprieciate all comments, however, when people post opinions as fact that's when we object. Like your BS assertion that no one can do better at leasing solo than a company driver does. You've never leased a truck so your comment is nothing more than an ill-informed opinion.

IIll informed opinion? Ive never leased a truck? You are wrong on both counts but quite nicely backup the first part of my comment, lmao! My opinion is based on Primes own numbers. Plus Ive perused some of the Prime threads, like the thread where the assertion is made that if you can gross $4200 you can bring home $1200,wtf?! You are right,Ive never leased a truck...from Prime. After seeing their numbers I had too much business sense to sign a lease that sucks. I have a still do lease and do quite well, compared to what you guys make I do extremely well. I looked into Primes flatbed division for a possible change due to some things at home that I thought might work out better with Prime. Dont get me wrong,I think Prime has some good points but their lease isnt one of them. If you arent clearing. 60cpm average then you are working for company wages. Working 7days a week turning maybe 2500mi solo then clearing only "$750-$950 if you watch your fuel mileage" is less than company wages even if you get lucky and bring home $1200 for that 2500mi. The fixed lease cost is near $1100/wk plus mileage charges plus fuel and if you run reefer add another $100 or so depending on your loads etc etc. With a fixed cost that high a solo driver is on the losing end compared to a company driver. So like I said in my first comment,to say because I didnt sign a lease that I cant know its a bad deal is like saying I cant know a car loan at 26% is a bad deal till I sign on the dotted line. Like Larry the Cable Guy says, thats like wipin before you poop,it dont make sense.

Btw Im home the majority of weekends to take my 34hr restart. Not in some truckstop burning fuel and money because some dope in dispatch cant be bothered to route me home. Rather its easier for them to feed you some line about not making money and going home regularly. I bring a load home with me,duh. Thats how its done.

Mea culpa. You've never leased a truck... from Prime. Implication: You most likely have never read one of our leases.

A "still do lease?" My! That sounds special. You may want to discuss that with Larry the Cable Guy.

Got an inflated opinion of what company guys make, I see.

I see you're still into juvenile excrement humor. Sad. $750-$950? Silent Eagle posted that, but he was guessing and didn't want to get anyone's expectations totally out of whack. Bad week for me. But I see you're also doing a lot of guessing. $100 for reefer fuel? You must be used to some crap equipment, or perhaps you've never heard of a reefer fuel surcharge? If you don't like what Prime offers, please, by all means walk away.

Maybe that's how YOU pretend to do it. Reefer rates being what they are, IMO you're full of it.

You still havent denied that Im wrong about your costs other than the reefer fuel which was a guess on my part since I dont pull reefer. Tell me the recruiter is lying about the fixed costs, mileage charges etc. Where Im at now our company guys make just under 50cpm then remember company drivers have half their fica tax paid for them and thats why I say anything under 60cpm is company wages. My current lease has weekly fixed costs of just under $500/wk. My variable expenses are fuel and maintenance (maintenance averages 13cpm). Thats it. No killer payments no mileage charges. Just a straight forward lease. My truck was two years old when I leased it,this being the sifference I guess between Prime,no wait a minute Prime leases two year old equipment to only for a helluva lot more.

Mileage is maintained in escrow as a hedge against someone returning a tractor that is totaled. You get it back in a lease completion bonus.

That's because they are employees. Anyone leasing a tractor is an independent contractor, thus paying their FICA in total. Cost of doing business.

That's a tractor payment. You don't mention anything about license, permits, insurance, HVUT, etc. My tractor payment is $796 - and I leased a brand new tractor, not a two-year-old used truck - and that figure includes all of my insurance. Not just a tractor payment.

That'd be my variable expenses - except you don't get our corporate fuel discount. Oh, yeah... then there's the matter of the warranty on my truck. I have 4.5 cpm going into tire escrow and perhaps another 1 cpm for oil changes. That's it. When something breaks on my truck - it gets fixed. That's it. Just fixed.

Yup, that's it. No killer payments. Oh... there is that pesky mileage charge. That'll turn into a $20,000+ lease completion bonus. Darn. Just hate paying that mileage charge. It's sooo annoying.

Yup, got one of those too. Real straight forward.

    Mine was brand new.

You should sue your grammar school teacher. Major fail there.

Yeah. That would be the PRIME difference. You got a two-year-old junker. My tractor was brand new.

Sorry. Must really blow to be you. :jerk:

$500 IS the total. Truck payment is $293 a week. No I dont have a huge balloon payment, even if I did its a lease if I want to buy the truck I can pay the balloon ($11k) or do like I always do and lease another truck and forget the balloon. When something breaks on mine it gets fixed also, and sooner than you guys according to the complaints I read about your road assist and shops. I get my maintenance account escrow back also at the end of the lease but they dont try to tell me its a "lease completion bonus". Its my money so I get it back, period. Lastly Ive kept from personally attacking you, just showing some class but some can only attack personally when they cant debate facts. Dont believe my numbers then call my company recruiting and ask about their lease. I wont name them here so folks dont think Im recruitung but it shouldnt be hard to figure out. New truck/used truck doesnt matter. Still too expensive. My truck has had pm's and little else outside of tires besides like I pointed out,Prime leases used trucks.
