I would suggest talking to someone at the dmv a driving school and a large trucking company like Werner Swift Jb Hunt.. or..a small one.. I don't know how that last one will work... Seatbelts are csa 2012 points

 

Thats a tough break.What I would recommend, is to get a 10 year drivers report from your local DMV office.you will probably have to ask one of their employees what any code violations on there are.That will tell you if you have any thing on there that can disqualify you.You might even be able to ask them if this could hurt your chances to get a CDL.Dont volunteer any info, just ask them what each(if any) violation means.

 

Only with an inspection. He's new, he has a clean CSA2010 slate.

The accident will get mixed reviews since it involved a fatality. I've driven in all kinds of weather. Fog is the one that bothers me the most and if it's that bad you just don't drive. I doubt anything is on your driving record from it and that's what matters. I would get a copy of your MVR and see what's on it so you know what you are dealing with. A single seatbelt violation won't hurt you.

 

Ya your best bet would be to call around to some different companies and see what they have to say about it.

 

The fatal accident should not even show up on your record.

As far as the dude you ran over after somebody else hit him, if you are completely forward and open and honest about it, you shouldn't have any problems.
I got a seatbelt ticket in 2003 and its never caused me any problems; as a matter of fact I just realized i never told my current employer about it when I was hired??!!

truck drivers MUST wear seat belts. it becomes a fine, and attached with CSA points. at my company, if any of us get a seat belt ticket (as well as the CSA points), we can be fired, as it is ALSO a company policy to wear them.

driving your personal vehicle you will still get a ticket in states where it is the law to wear them. but a trucking company should NOT hold that against you, as long as you were NOT a CDL driver. if you were to be a CDL driver (and driving your personal vehicle), then they could bust your chops for "knowing better"

this accident SHOULD SHOW UP on your DMV record, for x number of years, till it drops off. it was still an accident, with a death. good that you were not charged or ticketed, but IT IS STILL an accident where in the cops took down your information.

the law suit that followed would have been expected, but that has NO BEARING on any job, as it would have been a "civil matter"

get a copy of your driving record, in fact, inquire at your DMV if you can get a 10 year copy, it'll cost a bit more, but may well be worth it.

right now, as long as what has happened in the past, as a car driver or non CDL driver, you should NOT have any problems getting hired, but a stern word of warning....watch out from now on.....
