......MG, I'll try and wait for the "Honeymoon" (that is, IF I have a honeymoon) to wear off before I give a final opinion. I feel I owe it to everyone here to wait at least a week or two before giving an opinion. Although I will give an "Initial" opinion, after a day or two. To anyone who knows the answer to this question, please chime in...I noticed somewhere it says to unpack and charge the unit using A/C for three hours. Is three hours the "Minimum"? Should I just leave it charging over night (12 hours for example) or will it damage the battery? Does the unit automatically go into standby mode after charging or do I need unplug it? Thanks in advance.

You can leave it plugged in. Once it reaches full charge the battery stops charging.

    Thanks,

One of the things on the 720 I love and is a brilliant idea is that if if gets unplugged a warning pops up to tell you and says it will shut off if you do not click OK to keep it on. This will save the battery if it loses external power and you do not know it.

You sir, are a gentleman and a scholar. Your rugged good looks are only superseded by your superior intellect.

And when it pukes (i went through two of the 720's predecessor in 35 days) you're stuck paying for freight back to diesel boss AND waiting for the replacement to be shipped to you! I'll spend the same amount @ the TA Petro and when it pukes I take it to them and exchange it immediately.

Actually you don't pay freight to us. We send a return label. Swap the broken one out, stick the label on top and give it back to the postman. But you are correct, my molecular transporter is not perfected yet, so it does take 48 hours to get there. The advantage of owning TA Petro is that you have locations in many states. Sigh... Anyone want to start a DieselBoss Inc franchise?

This is the Rand McNally, the newest version with the wifi and weather overlay? Sirius's Evan Lockridge on the Lockridge Report had a couple of representatives on his show from three GPS manufacturers... one of them was Rand McNally... they sounded impressive. I have a couple models for the PC Miler and it's been a good device and brand but I also am considering this new model. Please post your experiences with it. I'd also like to hear some input as to buying from a retailer or direct internet buy or other means. Thanks.
