I was definitely glad to get rolling again yesterday. It was not that bad as I got to watch some good movies. I delivered at a plant that made mobile homes. It was pretty busy but they got me taken care of fairly quickly.
My next load was to pick up in Philladelphia at the packer Ave Marine Terminal. When i got there they were at lunch so after a 45 minute late I got to drive back in there and be among the many trucks that were parked all over the place. We go to the shipping office and they are still at lunch...so we wait 10 more minutes and then they tell us to go wait by the first door and wait for Jeff to come looking for us. He finally comes and tells us to go park over by the crane. This is the crane that unloads the ships. So we park right next to it making sure not to be on its tracks. As we are waiting...me and the obter trucks...a ship docks....and the crane starts to move. I am looking very closely to make sure this thing is not going to hit me.....I was in the clear. Finally got loaded with 10 slinkies......haven't done them in awhile so after I am half done I realize that the rear is pulling in the wrong direction....so I undo 5 of them and start over. By now they are telling me to move so I move up to another place. All the time there are trucks parked all over the place getting different loads and container haulers whipping in and out of you. This was the definition of chaos! Get told to move one more time before I am done. The temp was 109 and I was really struggling. Finally get done and sit in the truck and try to cool off and I get told I have to move again....so I decide I will pull over outside of the gate. Finally get rolling and get to spend another hour in traffic getting out of there, just like I did coming down.
Made it to the Pilot in Breezewood and took a much deserved and appreciated shower.
Got rolling this moring at 05:10 and headed to Grand Blanc Processing in Holly Mi.
I had been there once before, but could not remember much about it.
I drove the speed limit all the way there as they close down at 14:30 and I wanted to at least get on the board.
The notes on the wo said to not go over the 18 ton bridge so I was a bit concerned. My gps told me they were just up the road, but the notes said to turn left on Holly and then go south on I75 and get off at exit 108. So I head on down and then I notice I am at 106...not sure if I could go that way so I went down to 101 and turned aroudn and then pulled off to the side of the road.
Exit 108 is the road that the directions said to get on I75 south from. So I called the company and listened to the directions and they say to get off at 108 and come in the way that I was going before I turned on HOlly. So I was confussed...but decided to get off at 106 as i finally recognized it as the way I had come before. So I go in there and get unloaded and pull out on the street and wait.
I got a load picking up tomorrow at 0600 in Warren Michigan at Bar Processing delivering on Thursday morning at 0700 in Franklin Ky.
Truck stops and rest areas are scarce up here. The only one on the way was 17 miles from where I left so I am at the rest area on i75s and have about 45 miles to go in the morning. This was the only rest area and all of the truck stops looked like gas stations...so I played it safe.
I did make a correction to the notes on that stop and as far as I can tell, the bridge has been replaced so it is not an issue any more.

    Flatbedder 1966 Thanks this.

You became a trainee you can claim driver when you are assigned your own truck. We have many who fail before they get a truck. Once you've got a truck then you're officially a driver.

You're correct, I should clarify that statement. I'm officially an employee of Maverick, training to be a professional driver.

    sarge26044 and jxu417 Thank this.
