I'm a huge fan of Doc Martens. I have the best comfort luck with them. I have used them the past 5 years on my current job where I walk a tremendous amount all day long for about 12 hours. However, I am switching my career to trucking here next month, so I actually went out today and bought myself a comfy pair of athletic shoes for "everyday" wear and will have my Doc steel toes and regular docs with in case I need them.

Danner super rain forest with composite toe. http://www.danner.com/boots/super-rain-foresttm-non-metallic-safety-toe-work-boots.html Yes, they are expensive. YOU decide what you're willing to spend. I used to repair boots/shoes. My next pair will either be another pair of Danners or smoke jumpers from Whites.

Based on my buddy's rave reviews, I bought a pair of redwings after getting my cdl, but as a primarily drop&hook dry-van driver I have only had 1 shipper require steel-toed boots. Most just don't care what is on your feet and the rest only require closed-toe shoes. Since my feet put off heat like crazy, I just wear my Keen closed-toe sandals 99% of the time. I basically only use the boots when its 20 below and I need to walk on ice to get to the truck stop or shipper... Aside from the heat, they are comfy though...

I work the Gas Rigs allot. So I have to wear the fire retardent suit, and steel toes. Since I live near Justin, I tried their boots. They are ok. But I think I'll try something else next time. I'm getting some good ideas from here too.

The danners with the composite toe exceed steel toe requirements while not being electric or heat conductive and meet fire dept. specs.

I like the looks of those Danner. How long does the sole last? I'm very bad about wearing down outside edges of the soles long before the inside is even very noticeably worn.
