I was looking for insurance options and came across OOIDA, is this company legit? I am an O/O running hotshot under my own authority. Can I benefit from membership?

Most likely not. OOIDA is not interested in the hotshot industry.

I have seen several posts about companies not accepting their insurance.

Do a search, you will find much on them.

OOIDA insurance is way overpriced and there are lots of companys/brokers that will not recognize it. Did I mention it is way overpriced? Not worth the money for their dumb membership either. And you can still get Land Line Now for free, thats their in house magazine.

I use OOIDA and have no problems.... They did my authority, I call and ask any dumb question I want, plenty of brokers do accept their insurance they were the best rate for me and took into account that I had 15 years experience so I was not given the well you have never been an o/o speach, and you can catch the membership for a $25 special, most people spend that much on garbage anyway

As usual I find it interesting how the negative comments are made by people that never had any experience and reply with pure speculation.

I've had OOIDA insurance for truck, trailer, personal property, Unlaiden Ins, CPP (work comp replacement) and breakdown for 11 yrs. I've had 2 medical claims and 2 damage claims and never had any issues... Oh and the break down insurance is worth every penny as it covers $750 worth of towing up to 2 times a yr = $1500.

As far as cost, I've compared them to 1st Guard and the price difference wasn't enough to leave OOIDA.
Brokers that won't accept OOIDA ins probably had a run in with them for slow pay or no pay... OOIDA does go after these dead beat brokers.

I can say this with all certainty, if it wasn't for OOIDA, we would be installing eobr's in our trucks by now.
They may not be perfect, but its all we have in our corner and right now its better then nothing.

Sorry, I am not speculating. I have given them the chance to insure me many times, as a leased operator and on my own authority, they are just as high as Great West. I always wound up insuring through Progressive. But now leased to Mercer and run their insurance, its cheap and I get free windshields and no deductible on animal strikes.

Thanks all, looks like the resource of information alone would be worth the membership, I will definitely let them have a shot at giving me an insurance quote as well. I will post results if significantly different from my current policy. If anyone would care to to be my referral to save me $20 on my membership fee, that would be fantastic.
