The EPA's "Model State Idling Law" wasn't that bad. They made provisions for "periods of rest in a sleeper berth".
Here is the exemption:
They proposed that if a jurisdiction chose to ban idling, then the jurisdiction should off-set the cost of an alternative system. It seems it didn't quite work out because some of the states adapted their own set of rules, ignoring EPA models.
Here's a link to the entire EPA Model State Idling Law. You'll need to have pdf file reader for the link to work.
Forgive me if this information was posted earlier in the thread, but I just don't have time to filter through the 15 pages of it. Sorry.

2xR wonders if any of these anti-truck states have noticed the disproportionate number of "trucker bombs" laying on the side of their roadways?

its interesting to see uncle sam had some forethought and some states decided to milk another cash cow instead of using common sense
-
Please keep in mind that most trucks burn .5 Gallons in an hour.....APU companies want you to believe that it is a gallon an hour. Mine does between .4-.5 an hour.
-
I read today that PA is trying to adopt the 5 minute rule like CA.
-
Philly already has regs and it SUX!!!
-
gazoo, i was going to say that also
i timed mine one night, i filled it up, then ran all night, about 10hrs and filled it up again in the morning, it was about .6/hr, that was a detroit six in a 2006 Classic at the time -
I'm reading all about how horrible and inhumane these anti-idling laws are (and they are), but, is any juristictions enforcing the laws? Who here has been ticketed? Do you know anyone, first hand, who has been ticketed? Not just some crap you heard on the CB, but, actual knowledge of an LEO enforcing anti-idle laws.
-
The guy who wrote the first post is one who was ticketed. -
I read magizines from the last page forward, as well.
Alright then, let me re-phrase my question. Has a trend of enforcement of anti-idling laws began, or, is enforcement sporadic? -
