So they said,"you're not gonna be able to drive with us"? or did you get frustrated and quit on your own? That said, did you end up owing them any money before you left?
I quickly went through their website and didn't see any age restrictions (other than knowing you gotta be 21 for Interstate driving). There is a phone number on their website that you can call and verify the information about Swift's age requirement.

I called Swift myself and a recruiter told me. &' I basically couldn't get down the down shifting so I couldn't continue.

Thanks for the reply. If you got away from Central's school without owing anything for what training you got from them, consider yourself very lucky as I don't think that happens anywhere very often.

Maybe something to consider in your school choices is finding one with a simulator; from what I've heard, that's (sorta) realistic and you can grind the gears all you want without damaging anything :biggrin_25517:. I wouldn't brag about your not succeeding at the Central school because you couldn't downshift. Let the new school find out for themselves if you haven't gotten better at it.

    Good luck!

How would I know if I owe them anything? I haven't gotten any letters or any calls...

None of the schools will help you get into an"okay "company . All the carriers that send recruiters to schools have a high turnover rate . They keep hiring because people keep quitting or getting terminated . Schools love these carriers because the high turnover means there is always a need for new students .
If you failed with one company you might be better off giving it up . You'll likely be rejected by a trainer at another carrier .

I would think that they would give you a bill as you were returning books or other school materials but I don't know. Look at your contract with them and read the fine print regarding termination of schooling prior to receiving your CDL, or while your with a trainer. It would be a good thing to check your credit report as well.

They would actually have the nerve to hand him a bill for "services not rendered"? They were supposed to teach him how to drive not tell him to hit the bricks because he could not figure out downshifting in 15 minutes. If they were not able to teach him to drive and get him his CDL then he should owe nothing. They are a school and his inability to downshift by the time he left there is a reflection of them and their poor teaching style. If they give him a bill he needs to tell them to stick it where the sun don't shine. This is the real world not PeeWee football where everyone gets a trophy for participating. If they want their money they need to make sure he gets his CDL, that was the deal. If he quits himself then that is a different story. But otherwise he gets recycled into the next class and keeps going until he gets it right, and he will eventually. And I will not insult the original poster by assuming he signed a contract that stated he is responsible for paying the school even if they fail to get him his CDL and wash him out at their discretion, because no one would be that stupid.

I went to Dootson in Arcadia. I liked it. Got my CDL and 3 endorsements all at first try, no repeated attempts at DMV. Dootson has One on One training with instructor, as well as class room and group training for pre trips. But you get an instructor for one on one skills and drive training and learn how to drive the 1st day. They got recruiters from entry level companies like swift, and may trucking that visit, they'll give you application to others like cr england, us express, etc.. There is a post above about calling companies to find out what they think of trucking schools, I think it's valid. However, dootson has trained city of los angeles fire department or something, and others. They were I think in a reality show or something for trucking on an episode, just go to their website and find out. That's why I chose them, they seemed legit. I think it worked out for me, even though I still have to start working for a company, waiting for call for orientation. LOL just got the call!! cool.

I Had Charlie as one on one. But I hung around Rudy during group pre-trips and asked questions. Also sat in class with Rudy for some videos.
