thought I would throw this out there, people complain that shift motors are expensive, not really. Boss put new shift motors in my '09 this afternoon $734 with tax and freight charges ($632 per-tax/frieght). Truck has 345K on it, shifting has been acting up for the last few months. The only downside, it took him 3 hrs to replace them because access isn't as easy as it was on the older trucks. Will drive it in the morning to see fi that cures all the problems.
A note to the anti-auto crowd

This just in from 1985: 9 speed manuals suck! That is all.

Ours have no motors anymore, solenoids and a quick blast of air and the gear it through in 1/10th of a second, syncro helps too! Autos are getting better all the time, they are nearing perfection! However it's wrong to say the driver has no longer a role , in bad conditions they still need to be driven manually, the gearbox can't 'see' the conditions, I constantly hear how 'crap' they are in icy conditions, how they change at the wrong time, in those conditions the driver should change gears! that's why theres a manual mode! -

gator21 Thanks this. -
if the truck was what i wanted but came w/a 9spd,i'd buy it.the last two have had10 spds.whats the difference.the final ratio is the same.and alot of 9spds are convertable to 13's.anythings better than sitting there doing nothing but let a computer do your job for you.thats like needing a remote control for your car stereo.W.T.F.?
