Steve and Lo I have done as you asked. I have read your post from beginning to end. I have some questions for you though.
    1. You said the company insurance was too expensive I believe and were going to get "cheaper" insurance elsewhere. Have you secured your insurance yet and how much is it? (I know a few posts mentioned they do not figure in medical, dental, vision, disability, aflac, etc insurance into their "operating expenses" and call this a "choice." I know as a company driver that these benefits are customary and employees get all these at a considerable discount "if" I ever thought of getting into a lease again I would choose to cover myself with as much insurance as possible (personal choice I know) and wanted to know what these coverages are actually costing now a days.
    2. How much are you paying for your workers comp?
    3. Does prime pay for your plates and permits or are they "pro-rated" out of your settlement?
    4. Who files and pays for your road use tax and fuel tax? how about the 2290?
    5. How much is Prime charging for qualcomm, prepass, toll cards etc?
    6. I see you listing the miles for each trip and the "pay" for said trip. Are you reporting "all" the miles you are driving? Variances on each load should be anywhere from 2% to 10% depending upon the routes you drove. It would truly be interesting to see you re-calculate your average cpm with the above parameter figured in.
    7. Have you contacted a cpa to begin your estimated quarterly tax payments?
    8. Have you encountered any "hidden fees" such as trailer rental, preload fees, drop fees, etc?
    9. How much is the bobtail insurance, unladen insurance, and liability insurance?

I applaud your ambition but from my number crunching a company driver does indeed get a better deal with all the bennies figured in; vacation, paid personal days, paid sick days, paid holidays, break down pay, 401k contributions or pension, and half price on all the aforementioned "insurances." As well as no worries for paying for breakdowns.

If you are talking about the "at" sign, its more than likely filtered, because of the people that come here a post their email addresses in their posts. :biggrin_2554: Unfortunately we have to try to filter out that information, because people don't read the TOS, and understand why we don't want it posted here. LOL

Steve and Lo, thanks for the thread! As a new driver I really like getting information first hand from those doing it. I still need to go back and read all your pages in order from begining to end. I think I have read most, just not necessarily in order. Having started a thread for my new(read first) company, I only wish you,and Broncrider, hadn't set the bar so high on good threads!:biggrin_25523:

They do have some trucks where people have decided that this is not the business that they are suited for.....and most of those trucks are for lease at a lower rate than the new trucks. But, there are always new trucks for lease....it's your choice. And they have every color from Lime Green to Purple......Which I think is the owners favorite color....There's purple everywhere....even on the basketball court! LOL

You're actually in a pretty good area. We have our Floral Division that runs out of Pierson, FL. So, there is usually freight available. My wife is from NSB....she's a Cuda' !!!

Today, we're in Deland....visiting her Aunt. Getting ready to head back out here in a few. Had to stop by and fix the bumper that I damaged when I decided that Broncrider wasn't the only one going Deer Hunting.

I promised you guys I would give you my numbers for last week....here they are...
    4 trips....well 3 plus a local...
    2195mi - $2518.63
    63m - $121.63
    1812mi - $2669.62
    1033mi - $1811.43
    811mi - $1335.75
    5914mi - $8457.06 GROSS
After all was said and done.... $2,487.71 TO ME.... Now, this amount would normally have been $500 higher if I had not gone Deer Hunting and had to by a new Left Bumper and all the support structure and a new ### Light for SWMBO.....
Now, add back in Mama's pay that I had to pay her..... Well worth every penny I might add..... $624.00 AFTER TAXES
    $2487.71
    $ 624.00
$3111.71 THAT WE PUT IN THE BANK! You can see where the husband/wife team starts having it's benefits.
