I have some stuff on my background and driving record that i'm not to proud of. I'm set to start cdl training here in south carolina at sage. They told me my ground wouldn't be a problem but i believe it will be. I have a petty larceny charge back in 04 and a couple of bad checks between now and then. I paid a fine with the larceny charge and was gilty. the bad checks are on there but of course i paid them off and didn't have to go to court and nothing like that. I also have a felony grand larceny charge from 08 but it was threw out...its on my record but i was never charged for it. So are this things that are going to keep me from getting a job with the bigger companys like us xpress, stevens, warner, just any companys like that? Any help with any of this would be a big help. Thanks

Theft is a big no no in the trucking industry. This will cause a problem for most companies.

I would call around to some different mega-carriers and talk to the their recruiters and see what they say. Don't just call one! Call a bunch so that you can get a good average of what they all tell you.

DO NOT sign up for school unless you have a good feeling about getting hired on with someone! Those school recruiters get paid commission and will tell you anything you want to hear in order to get you to sign on the dotted line!

I'm typically one of the first people to say don't let a felony hold you back but that recent one by itself is gonna cause you some big problems.

You need to do some research before you start schooling. And if it doesn't look good then move on to something else. Don't just go to school because you can.

I was never found guilty of a felony...its on my record but the charge was dropped. I feel that still going to school will still help me out with a local cdl job i'm just not to sure about the big companys

Just outta curiosity how do you get found not guilty but have a charge showing on a record on what you were found not guilty on? Not busting your balls as I see lots of people post that just curious.

    Arrests can show up forever,

regardless if you were ever charged.

its cool colorato i know yall are just trying to help. To sum it up i helped a buddy put a ac unit in a house. Little did i know that he stole the ac unit. The police told me that i was going to be charged for it since i helped set it up even though i didn't know it was stolen...well he payed restition (spelling) and its on my record as a Nolle prosequi, which means unwilling to pursue
